Seeing this happen lately. The subwoofer on my Swans M10 randomly, the cone starts ramping vibration accompanied with loud noise as if the woofer is going to blow up, even when volume and bass is set to 0. Goes away when I switch it off/on multiple times. Any idea what could be the problem?
I'll try to record a video and post it here the next time it happens.
Edit: Recorded a short clip till sound/noise became too loud

Could be AC hum. Probably a loose filter capacitor somewhere if that's the case. Download a spectrum analyser app (spectroid on Android for example) and see if there's a peak at 50hz(line freq) when you get this sound.

should I do this check even when nothing is playing on through the speakers?
