system does not boot past windows screen.....

Hello...!
my compaq does not boot past the Windows screen. It shows the windows screen as if it is loading, and in the end everything goes blank, then the process starts all over again....
Please Help...

os: xp professional

Are you being able to boot into safe mode ( by clicking F8 when OS boots ) ?

try safe boot as sei have suggested, if this doesn`t help then repair your xp installation using a xp boot cd

Seems like your Windows XP is crashed.. :ashamed:
As suggested by other members try booting in safe mode.. If it doesn't help then you can try to repair xp.. If even that fails then you can't do anything other than installing a fresh copy of Windows XP.
Boot with Ubuntu live cd and copy ur important data to a different partition/removable drive. Then you can go with a fresh installation of Windows XP.

Or you can use the Live CD to boot and move the data from root drive to logical drive.

Hiren Boot CD is best to analyze and repair bad things which happen to windows due to hardware or software failure.

some windows file may be deleted by you accidently or by your anti virus

You can also try ERD commander, i can get you access to windows control panel and also registry.

If you are able to boot in safe mode perform system restore to previous date.
