I am getting a very good deal on a T-Mobile HTC HD2 from eBay US. Can anyone tell me if this phone is useable in India with local carriers, esp. BSNL after applying the unlock code? I am specifically interested in the following features:-

1. ofcourse voice calls, SMS, MMS etc.!
2. browsing Internet on phone with both EDGE and 3G speeds (I travel a lot and have do not have access to 3G most of the time).
3. tethering to my laptop by USB, Bluetooth and WiFi.

Also, the specs say that it supports HSPA at 1700MHz and not 900MHz as does the Asian version. Will that make a difference in India? Will I be able to use 3G on it in India with all features good to go?

Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for replying!

1. voice calls, SMS works fine .. For MMS, you need to configure connection according to your service provider

2. browsing Internet on phone with EDGE also works fine ... not sure about 3G (need to check bands for India :P)

3. haven't tried it but should work fine

You would be able to use the 3G and all other phone services in India as well.

The Common band for HSDPA is 2100MHz for both Indian and US version.

Good thing is MTNL 3G services are on 2100MHz.

Even I was inclined towards buying T-Mobile HD2 with obvious gr8 price and 1GB ROM. the best to my understanding 3G shall surely work across all networks in INDIA as the band provided is above 1900 which is supported by the phone. The only problem I saw was custom ROM. There are few or limited ROMs for T-Mobile version. The reason being different Radio firmware is required by this version then the rest of the world.
just my 2 cents
