Android Tagging music files for Android

I tag music files on Windows with Mp3tag. Works well.

When I copy the same files to my Android phone some, not all, tags are not read correctly by audio players. For eg. the track # will show null. Both Google Play Music & Shuttle+ have this problem so it looks as though Android needs tags in a certain format.

What's the best way to tag music files for Android ?

MediaMonkey seems to do the job but it is huge and I don't like the UI.

Might I recommend you tag files on your computer instead? MusicBrainz Picard is pretty damn good for this job - https://picard.musicbrainz.org/

Believe me, it is a pain editing tags on the phone. MediaMonkey works best.
