(1) I don't remember using my optical drives for any burning but i need to burn some backups.

All i remember is people favour TY discs a lot and had bought spools of 100 discs from KMD/Todphod.

Will be a huge help if anyone can spare me some of those.

If i get more donors/sellers and can buy like 5 per donor, i will do so as that that will eat up less into individual stocks. :)

I need 20-25 blank Taiyo Yuden or similar or better quality DVDs.

For starters, i can do with even 10 for now till i can ascertain what is good and available now and buy some more of that. :)

If there is something better or an equally good alternative to the good TYs, please do PM me. :)

Please PM any offers. :)

Verbatims are pretty comparable to TYs?? Just asking coz Verbatim's are now available locally for 10.5 ~ 11 bucks a DVD when bought in cake packs of 50+

Atleast i bought myself a 50 pack for 550 bucks here in Bangalore =)

^^ I guess what most people say is the MII (made in india) verbatims arent that good but MIS (made in singapore) are , i dont know whether thats true or not

@ OP - Even i would recommend verbatims . I dont know how good TY's are , but even my 2-3 year old verbatims work very well

Calling all.

Chicu- thanks for the offer but did u think you will be paid? :bleh:

Vulc4n - didn't check with KMD. I don't need 100, i only need 20-25. :P

Any optical drives that have died here have so due to unuse. :ashamed:

Thank you very much- will contact you if i don't get enough but seems like my good friends from Mumbai may contribute enough. :)

RIce - TY TY TY- i mean Thank You. :P

SN and Manu- i have also heard the same that SG ones re better than Indian ones.

But i am lower than a ODD and media n00b- so just posted what i heard from the gurus. :P

Here is the media scan of what I got.. its the same that everyone specifies.. dunno how much different it can be from what u get from made in SG :P
Well, just letting you know, that's all :D

Bikey - are you very specific on only getting only TY, becuase the Verbs MII are actually of high quality, read many posts on CDfreaks and here on the scan quality and comments
Dont bother about it made by MB, they are made with Verb equipments and dyes and that should ensure quality and they are available pretty cheap ,about 10-11 rs

^ Not really. I have mentioned something similar in quality or better is fine too. :)

I ran a check via another thread around the same time> http://www.techenclave.com/storage-solutions/need-good-quality-dvds-for-backup-141981.html

Almost bought a spool of new Verbs when CT PMed me a link to some scans on an another forum and the latest batch of Verbs he had were horrible iirc.

I don't need many and so looking for a few from someone who has a batch giving consistently good quality scans, be it TY or Verb or whatever. :)

I think that might have been a bad batch. But most of the times you should be getting a good batch.

I ordered a cake box of Verbatim matt silver the other day and they are as good as my earlier box. Month of manufacture: March 2009
