i could not get speeds from my utorrent on TATA connection. My local internet connection was showing download fine via utorrent and port was also okie... but could not get TATA to download anything and the port is also not open.

i used Free Download Manager to download torrent from it, and i was showing good speeds and download rate. Please help me as what the problem may be.

Further to state, i am using torrent from sites like hdbits where i always get maximum speeds and not any public torrent sites.

i have changed the tcp connection limit in vista and max_open setting in utorrent. Dont know what else may be the problem. The firewall is also set to unblock utorrent.

I have not tried any other torrent clients as i dont like them coz of memory hogging.

what does it mean? If port was OK, then why is it not open?

Are you using the Billion ADSL router that they provide?

Try using bitcomet, it does not hog the memory, see if that makes any difference.

okie.... just to clarify things so that i get quick response from you all...

i had my local cable connection HONESTY, which i was using for downloading and for a 512 Unlimited package utorrent was giving me 58kBps with green icon in the bottom bar enar speed measurements meaning port connection okie...

when i switched to TATA Quickpower 360, they used the same LAN, meaning no router or whatsoever, just changed my IP, DNS and GATEWAY address.

In TATA i am having mixed experiences. I downloaded trial sql2005 server from microsoft @ 243kBps constant speed. But then overall the service was unreliable, meaning sudden speed dropped while surfing, surfing ceases while downloading etc.

Now my main problem came with utorrent. With TATA connection it is not showing any download and when it started downloading it would reach max 30-40kBps. I though of various reasons and tried the following....

1. Change the port to random something else
2. Tried it on fresh vista install
3. Patch the TCP conenction limit to 100 conenctions
4. net_max_halfopen set to around 80
5. upload set to 60kBps
6. Checked Firewall settings
7. Used various sites like good speed hdbits and desitorrents, public sites like piratebay and btmon, but with same results.

Finally i tried Free Download Manager which has inbuild torrent download support. It gave me speeds in the range of 30 - max 110 kBps. I was utterly confused with the results. I prefer utorrent for my torrent download requirements. My bro using the same setting is facing the same problem eventhough hid Gateway is different. He tried using utorrent, axzereus, bitcomet and few others.

Can someone tell me :

1. Where am i going wrong.

2. TATA says they have collaboration with my local HONESTY connection. So they will use their Switch and infrastructure. Do they have wireless connection / router something so that i can opt for it.

Awaiting reply.....

5. upload set to 60kBps

On my connection, I can't get decent downloading speeds at 50kBps or more uploading speed. So I have set the upload speed to 45kBps and I am enjoying 220kBps constant (for multiple torrents on public trackers)
Try uploading at 45kBps and revert back if downloading speed increases... ;)

@4dh1r : will try capping the upload speed to 40

@6pack : have kept encryption ON to prevent ISP limitations

Dont know when this damn problem will get sorted.

r u getttin the green circle with the tick in it??
if not then the ports are blocked and there isnt much u can do unless the ports are opened up...

applied for tata yesterday, got connection 2day, quick power 360 4 3641, checked torrents, upload speed is ~60 kbps, dload is always above 220 kbps, on well seeded torrents

Ahh.. that is what i wish for..... but i am getting a Yellow triangle...:@ :@

Can someone help me with what are their utorrent settings. Mine are

max upload : 45kBps
max download : 0
global max connection : 700
max connected peer per torrent : 125
upload slots per torrent : 3
max active torrent : 5
max active download : 3
Also my gateway is 10.6.136.1. Does anyone else have it, if so what port are you using for utorrent. Also my DHt nodes on statusbar shows just 14 when it used to show around 200 on my ewarlier LAN connection.:@ :@

^^ you have to forward your port properly man . your utorrent settings are not a problem. Make sure your router is forwarding the port properly. press Ctrl+G in utorrent and check out.

edit: my port is 50000

ur utorrent settings are ok....like i said your ports are blocked which why u dont have the green circle n dht nodes shows only 14...

since u said u r getting the connection frm ur cablewala u'll have to ask him for for the port settings....

@kumar : i set max conn per torrent : 90

@wraith : though i am using local network, my connection is to TATA gateway i guess, there must be problem in TATA settings and not local cablewala's settings....what say

@broar94 : how do i know about the router... all i could find is my port is not forwarded properly....
