My tatasky hd+ box got a firmware update last night and enabled some type of network sharing in the unit. It comes up in windows as some weird number media server. Properties show this name - "Evolution Media Server". I searched the net and finally found some Indian company which seems to have based this off open source Media Portal i think.
I tried browsing to the hdd on the stb but there is no web based access or any shared folder on the device. Similarly, cant see or there is no option to browse to pc's shared media files from stb. Wonder why they put this half baked media server?
Is it for viewing downloaded content through internet only?[DOUBLEPOST=1366826194][/DOUBLEPOST]I think its related to their phone app where you can control the hd box through iphone or ipad. There is an android version too on google play, but seems its not working anymore.
For iphone/ipad - http://www.tatasky.com/tata-sky-mobile/tata-sky-wifi-remote.html
For android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5yeXptZWRpYS50YXRhc2t5Il0.

This thing about controlling the STB through the phone has been available for sometime, however it required some kind of device to be attached to the phone. Some customers got it for free in the earlier days. Not sure if they are doing away with it to allow to control the STB from the phone on WiFi. Should be nice.
