Next time Michael Schumacher takes off in his Fiat Ferrari Formula-1 car, software from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be hitching a ride.
TCS has become Ferrari’s new technology partner and is eyeing other auto giants. Apart from TCS software solution, Schumacher’s Ferrari is powered by Shell’s fuel, Vodaphone’s communication system, Bridgestone tyres and AMD’s hardware.
An elated TCS chief executive S Ramadorai, chose the World Economic Forum annual meeting at the Swiss Alpine resort Davos to showcase his company’s new initiative with Ferrari.
Schumacher’s swanky red Ferrari powered by the TCS solution was up on display at a posh restaurant on the city’s main road.
Thirty of TCS’s best professionals have been engaged for Ferrari. And their job doesn’t end with providing the software solution. The team will continue R&D work to ensure there are no snags during the race and all parts function at peak performance.
The technology tie-up with Ferrari is just the beginning fro TCS, sources said. The firm is poised for a foray into auto engineering solutions in a big way, sources said. Besides that, TCS will also look at offering solutions for pharma, biotech and other fast growing areas.
