Next time Michael Schumacher takes off in his Fiat Ferrari Formula-1 car, software from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be hitching a ride.

TCS has become Ferrari’s new technology partner and is eyeing other auto giants. Apart from TCS software solution, Schumacher’s Ferrari is powered by Shell’s fuel, Vodaphone’s communication system, Bridgestone tyres and AMD’s hardware.

An elated TCS chief executive S Ramadorai, chose the World Economic Forum annual meeting at the Swiss Alpine resort Davos to showcase his company’s new initiative with Ferrari.

Schumacher’s swanky red Ferrari powered by the TCS solution was up on display at a posh restaurant on the city’s main road.

Thirty of TCS’s best professionals have been engaged for Ferrari. And their job doesn’t end with providing the software solution. The team will continue R&D work to ensure there are no snags during the race and all parts function at peak performance.

The technology tie-up with Ferrari is just the beginning fro TCS, sources said. The firm is poised for a foray into auto engineering solutions in a big way, sources said. Besides that, TCS will also look at offering solutions for pharma, biotech and other fast growing areas.

so indian + german + italian forces means ferrari gonna rock this year.

though the news is old but the implementation is happening now.

Please. How can a TCS programmer drive the F1 car? He would be too busy driving for another tata group company for free

(OT: TCS often does free work for other Tata group companies off the record. All highly illegal, and in fact, the TCS bosses don't even know about it. This is done by stupid project owners who are too lazy to get a contract signed, but figure wth, if we don't ultimately get the project it won't matter cos they can't throw me out for doing a favour to another Tata company)

Because I have relatives in TCS who can't stop cursing their bosses. The bosses are all quite incompetent, as there exists a regional lobby which grants promotions on a NON-merit basis (not officially of course)

^^

lol....but branding all "bosses" as incompetent is quite harsh you see :bleh:

To think that all these incompetent bosses drive the largest software company in Asia and posting huge Year on Year improvement consistently

I am with that organization for 2 years ... my tenure is short but like any other companies it got its own pros and cons....but "incompetent"? no :)

Your kins must have other reasons to crib i am sure...i crib too....but its because of the salary

lol..the situation is same for all the Indian software companies..all are body shoppers , mass recruiters and treat the entry level staff as bonded labourers .

The criteria for being a manager is lack of knowledge.

If somebody doesnt know anything about a technology, he is made a manager for it (Due to his relations, of course).

Possible. I've heard TATA is one of the sponsors at Williams F1 in 2006. :D

then that programmer will drive the williams slowly and programme the ferraris to blast the opposition.:bleh:

btw this thread is for TCS and its association to motorsports not recruitment and promotional policies. :P

where does it say a programmer will drive the car , you guys are nuts :bleh:

Well this is not new. TCS was also working on Ferrari last year. Man Ferrari got influenced by the TCS' thoughts of Economy and Milage that they lost their winning streak. Kidding. Hope they fine tune the V8 powered rocket to last long and win forever.
