As you all know, one of the main highlights at the TE Expo will be the OC'ing zone with an OC'ed rig put together by some of us TE members in Chennai. And the rig is gonna be thrown open to challenges from other fast PCs. So this better be good ;)

At the moment the basic gist of the possible components is as follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon FX-57 or Opteron 146 or Opteron 165/170 (deciding on this - suggestions?)
Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR (Expert probably wont be here in time)
Memory: OCZ PC4000 EB 2 x 1GB kit (I think this kit is no longer available. Any better suggestions from OCZ?)
Graphics cards: 2 x 7800GTX 256MB (Brands to look out for ?)

HDD: 2 x WD Raptor 74GBs in RAID 0, or 2 x Hitachi T7K250 drives
Optical Drive: Benq DW 1640/Plextor/Pioneer

Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech G15/G5
Sound Card: Creative X-fi (either the Fatal1ty model or the Platinum based on availability)
Speakers: Logitech Z5500D
Monitor: Raghu suggested the Sony Trinitron CRTs. The Samsung CRTs would be much easier to source.

PSU: Antec NeoPower HE 500W
Cabinet: Antec Server cabby (not sure of the exact model)

Watercooling setup:
Not sure about the exact models, but from what I remember it looked to be a Black Ice Extreme III Radiator, Polarflo CPU block and a Swiftech MCP350 pump + Reservoir combo.

I think if you want to OC well then i think FX is a safer bet.Just in case you cant squeeze the board easily, the inlocked multipliers would definately help.

i think going for a 1GB kit is safer in which you get TCCD/TCC5.Most of the RAM Makers offering the 1GB x 2 kit use Samsung UCCC chips.correct me if i am wrong.Excluding Crucial Ballistix ofcourse.

I think you should be ok with XFX 7800GTX,its a well built card.

i think you could setup a Dual Monitor Setup to give the whole setup a more Uber look.
1 -21" CRT + 1 - 17"/19" TFT
Will look awesome.

BTW where are you getting the OCZ and all stuff from ?

Specially sourcing it for the event ? or what ?

@Darky: Yes, feel the same about the FX too.. except certain games are starting to show the benefits of dual-core !

I felt games these days are demanding on the memory , hence the recommendation for a 2GB kit . And yep, the memory will be specially sourced from OCZ for the event (expect to see OCZ in india soon too ;) )

How about the Leadtek for the Gfx card?

Good sggestion on the dual monitor! :D

@bottle: Yep, 3DMark 06 results seem to favour the dual core from the results i'm seeing in the 3dm06 thread. Plus Quake4 was showing performance improvements over the FX.

Coming to that, any suggestions for the benchmarks? Accordingly we could tune our system/decide on components based on that.

I havent tried Leadtek,so donno much about it.I have used lotsa XFX cards, they are very good. Its upto you actually.

As Bottle said DC would help in latest games.
well if you do plan to go DC then get the board+CPU asap.OC'ing DC aint that easy..even though i havent done it,i can tell you from what i have heard.
Harshal should be able to guide you more efficiently in DC OC.

Naa won't matter. They'd be 2T but will be faster than the 3-4-4-8@270UCCC sticks if you can reach say 255 2-2-2-5 with them. The overclock can still be had decently. Run them on a divider. However don't even think of running 1:1 with TCCD. It'll be a disaster :P.

Edit: The leadtek extreme cards with the gtx 512MB hsf will be cool :)

The cabinet will be Antec Titan 550... with the moded side panel with acrylic window.

:( I'll end up missing out on the expo :(
Click a lot of pix guys....I'll vicariously attend it thru u guys and the pix

i suggest instead of 1 21"+19" use a 21"+21" moniter setup

and i dont think there is a budget for this why dont u get fx 60 as the proccy

:hap2: :hap2: :hap2: :hap2: :hap2: :hap2: :hap2: :hap2: :hap2:

edit:How r u getting the OCZs

from where u guys are getting this UBER rig ..... someone purchasing one or wat ..... anyways if its no money limiting rig then get the XFX GTX 512 X 2 for SLI ..... about memory i will also suggest 1GB(2x512) as they OC well ...... and for CPU i will say FX-57 :D ......

EDIT:- leave that high lighted question got answer in other thread

@Crazy, Since the total cost of the rig will be nearing the GDP of many a states in India   you should have planned to go in for a phase change cooling setup (VapoChill by Asetek).:cool2: :D Water cooling is ok for "mild" ocing , and as it is water has done enough damage lately down under.(tsunami, flooding ....)

leadtek is to Nvidia what sapphire is to ATI.(Built quality)

Do not forget to carry a few spare psu's during the expo ....;)

RE: Memory , are you limited to the brands ur sponsors are / or in the process of importing ?? or anything goes ??

Eddy...what do say about the ASUS extreme 7800GT 512MB Dual GPU cards in SLI mode?...considering there are no budget restrictions.

Since thse monsters can be directly connected to an AC supply...ur PSU will be on a lower load :S

Hey Smith i was gonna suggest the same asus which takes power directly
from the mains.

Hey Eddy get that ASUS if budget aint a restriction.

Also i donno if u guys can get phase change but if its possible dont miss it.
Use a FX to OC as the multipliers really help.
Carry spare processors as they might be handy incase ....................

Dont forget to post pics of this super duper uber rig ;)

Guyz there is no budget in the sense we need someone to sponsor the card... We are hoping that Leadtek will sponsor the card, dont know about Asus . Most of the components will be sponsored.

Oh, you sure about this? I thought 2T was sacrilege ;)

Yep I know 1:1 with 4 sticks of TCCD is asking for trouble. Thought loading up the A64's memory controller with any 4 sticks would be a trouble to overclock , the same way single sticks are easier to clock over dual sticks ?

Its not the Antec Titan 550. From what i've browsed thru on the net it looks to be an Antec SX1480 case (http://www.antec.com/us/support_productInfo_details.php?ProdID=01443). Not sure if its the exact model, but this is how it looks. Very huge, countless drive bays, dual PSU ! The side panel has to be cut and an acryclic sheet put in. Plans might be there to paint it up in some cool colors as well :)

IT Depot can source the sticks for us from OCZ USA.

Just a question.. the GTX 512MB cards are vaporware right, so what chances will be there that we could source them here?

RE: Memory , are you limited to the brands ur sponsors are / or in the process of importing ?? or anything goes ??

Well the parts aren't being "bought" outright (can anyone afford to?!), but rather sponsored by manufacturers here in India who are willing to be a part of the show and have their goodies on display - stuff will be returned once the show is over. We did initially suggest the OCZ Phase change unit considering IT Depot may bring in OCZ here to India, but I do not think these units are out in retail as yet. Raghu suggested chilling the water, will see if thats possible.

As per memory, yes we're limited in our brands - OCZ and probably Corsair are our only options.

Good suggestion, will look into it.. but are these things available apart from paper launches? :D

Sourcing a single proc is a challenge, leave alone having spares ;)

as far as GTX 512 is concerned its available here in cochin ..... but still i think 256 will be enuf in SLI more than sufficiet to handle anygame .....

i think u guys will be making a killer rig ..... i will try to come there (i really wanted to but there are many problems )

Eddy...here are the specs of the DUAL GPU

one more point:
* Please be noticed that one motherboard can only support one EN7800GT DUAL/2DHTV/512M

i thought we cud put two of these babies on one rig....apparently..it isnt so.
