when lonavala meets mahabaleshwar
(strawberry-chikki combo as breakfast, recipe-credit chef aditya bal. this idea was shared by him in one of the episodes of his show 'chakh le india' long back when he had travelled to saputara hill-station of gujarat from mumbai and just after crossing over into the region at the border he saw sellers selling strawberries there. some may not like it, but i like the combo of sour-sweet tastes. the sour & soft strawberries with the sweet & crunchy peanut chikki tastes very good. my suggestion to try - use the dry light-coloured less sweet peanut chikki instead of the dark caramel-coloured sticky one which is more sweet; or use rajgira dry fruit chikki which can taste even better with the strawberry slices.)
wines made from the fruits of mahabaleshwar (supposedly, hopefully )
(mulberry, strawberry, mango, pineapple. i am not a 'wine connoisseur'; i dont like wines usually & i didnt like the strawberry wine i had from the place some years back. but these felt nice to me. tasted the mulberry one with my neighbour, neither of us being wine enthusiasts, but both of us took an instant liking to it! yet to taste the others. 375~500ml bottles each, cost me a total of 16xx/-. brands, 'rhythm wines' & pomona's wines.)
