PC Peripherals Techtree 65K gaming rig

if someone is recommending a 6600GT over X800-XL he is being a Nvidia Fanatic. Pricewise i know there is huge difference but x800-xl beats the 6800GT as well in many games. Im going to get a Stock of Gigabyte 6600GT's & X800-XL very soon at Delhi. So if u want one please pm me. All of them carry a default 3yrs warranty.

When u buy a good brand for 6600gt like gainward etc., they cost u around 20% more than XFX & lower brands. thus if ur looking for a card that isnt beaten for next 2yrs atleast, go for an X800-XL, pls dont compare it with 6600GT performance wise. 6600gt's have been a Very good Deal till now, but then --- let things move on & we do have better price/performance combos coming up to explore.

the reason why i chose to stock gigabyte is the Warranty, as chaos mentioned u atleast expect a 3yrs security for this hefty 18-19,000 bucks u spend.

& yes the gigabyte one has a silent passive cooler(which u dare not underestimate at all) & has the VIVO which makes it a Far superior choice.

have a look down for a great Review

But the problem is the price..... for people who care more abt quality than price, they will anyway go for an X800XL. But most people cannot even afford a 6600GT.

What is the point of an X800 XL??? Also look at the uses. How many people are really into hardcore gaming in India??? I know the number is huge but % wise, it is less.

yep if X800XL was available near to 15K it would have made a lot of difference. It would have practically killed both 6800NU and 6600GT here in India.
But 20K is too much for X800XL IMHO. For 3K more you get 6800GT which has a lot more overclocking potential than X800XL. There it too much profit going into the importer's pocket here in India. Their import price is not even 13K. The heavy duty is no longer there on graphic card.
Their profit margine on graphic cards is huge.
If i decide to import the X800XL personally it will cost me $280+$46 shipping through UPS. Thats still less than 15K.
The pricing is ridiculous for enthusiast level stuff. I even thought of requesting some guys over at AT to help guys like us and ship the products here. I know there are people who are willing to help and those who want to sell their stuff. So many reputed sellers are there over at AT. You can trust them more than any ebay seller.
If we request as a group i am sure someone will help. Few guys helped a small community members from aruba and istumbul a while ago at AT. Shipped them high end stuff for US price + shipping and that too as a gift to avoid the duties.

Indian computer dealers are fat pigs(well most of 'em) who know nothing and are good for nothing, simple as that. When online marketing/retailing becomes big and big Intl. retailers open shop here(retail sector is being opened for FDI soon, when the big boys really come is another matter)they will be out of business, and not a moment too soon.

I too agree with you funky , the guys at AT are really gr8.
Although i am mostly on TE but do give a visit to AT also.

If X800 XL was like 14-15 K i really wud have gone for it but 20K is killing my overall rig budget.
So finally decided to go for Gainward 6600GT.

AT= Anandtech. One of the oldest and one of the biggest online community. Not as good for technical discuession but one of the most active FS/T forums with dedicated moderators keeping watch on all sales, trolls. Overall a very reliable community if you go through their guidelines to purchase hardware directly from a end users like us in US.

^^ Something is wrong with your keyboard. Also the cards which are making it out here are from hopeless companies like Powercrap, Club3d, and too an extent XFX. Cards from Gigabyte, Gainward are available but very few in stock, and tough to find. The reason resellers are putting such high margin on the cards, is due to the volumes, they manage to sell at the most 2-3 cards a month. On the other end look at fast moving cards like FX 5200 their price is decent, because the dealer is able to sell in volumes.

@undertaker trust me, the online trading stuff is gonna take decades to catch up in India. Ppl out here yet wanna see the stuff in person before buying, and that attitude is not gona change soon.

Regarding high-end video cards the situation is gonna remain pathetic, till our average income rises. In US the average per capita income is at 2000$ a month, compared to 1000 Rs a month here. No enthusiast manufacturer is gonna find a lucrative market here.

Well nothing is wrong with the keyboard. i just realised that 0 key was half stuck in :P corrected it :P
And about high end cards.
Well market is there. And dealers are selling a lot more than 2-3 cards a month.
The dealer himself tells that. The market is huge. If the prices of high end comes within say 5-10% of the cost that it sells in US the market will grow in huge proportions.
There are people here in India who are buying 6800GT SLI systems. There are people who are running FX55s.
My cousine is running 6800U SLI. Person in my building is running X800XTPE. There are 3 tyres here. Importer, trader and dealer.
Unless that goes and someone deciedes to do all 3 himself there is no hope.

has anyone considered starting their own desi new egg here? What all factors would have to be considered? Is it really possible for a hypothetical indian new egg to sell hardware at prices 5-10% above US prices? what would have to be done to achieve it IF possible?

it it me or hat site is not opening at all?
EDIT: ok it opened, and i saw this about a month ago and aint it supposed to launch tomorrow?
