Review: Dell Venue Pro

Really amazing to see what happens when a long term user of reliable a and functional os moves to something that is perhaps as reliable but much flashier.
Not a review per se,I gather it more as a satire on wp7.

That "article" is in no way a review. It's his take on the phone. Nowhere, has he listed out the features of the phone as a neutral party so that potential buyers can make an informed choice.

Secondly, this is a whole new platform and needs time to be spent learning it. The learning curve's not as steep as Android for sure. As some other commentators have pointed out, he really didn't even take out time to research a bit on the OS. Any fellow with a decent amount of IQ can easily understand where the phone's strengths and weaknesses are. Surely he must have heard of Engadget, pocketnow etc.?

I'm not blindly defending Microsoft. There are somethings that are downright frustating (Setting a song as a ringtone comes on top of my list). But the other things? They can be done easily.. use google man. sheesh..

I've been an Android user for the last 1.5 years. A staunch supporter. Till the time an iPhone 4 and a HD7 came into my house. Now, I know where Android lacks (except SGS2 and only SGS2). It's the finish. I can do without some functionality which was never really of any use to me (talking about widgets in particular here). The animations, the tie up with FB. Downright amazing. The Metro UI.. I cannot get enough of that. Of course, everyone's needs are different. But I have not met a single i4/Android user who hasn't had his jaw on the floor after going through my phone. And that emotion cannot be faked.. especially from the high and mighty SGS2 and i4 users. :P

Expert Review? Yeah right, not even close. I do not think the so called "reviewer" has even took his time to look at what Windows has to offer. Did even go through Marketplace? There is an Favorite Contacts app which lets you store 12 of your frequently called or favorite contacts for quick dialing. What a waste of time....... Want real review, go to reputed websites like Cnet, Engadget or even GSMArena. These people do not deserve the paychecks they might get for this. I have never seen such a biased review.

@Sei
Being an die hard Android fan, I still have soft heart towards Windows. The fact WinMo 7 is behind could have given MSFT a chance to really beef things up...i rather it be late then be early and just be garbage. Metro tiles and fluid animations are something that makes WP7 different.

An idiotic review. Still using WM6 here, and from all the reviews of WP7 floating around, surely it cannot be as bad as the reviewer makes it out to be. Also, this just lowers my opinion of Techtree.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Also seems like the reviewer is an Apple fanboi..........from the way he presented the phone.

Nice article :D

Leaving the review tag aside, it does highlight the gripes I had with WP7 when I read the early reviews - default Facebook contact merge, limited home screen customization (tiles) and no Bluetooth file transfer.

^ Actually the FB contact merging was never a problem for me since I am very, very choosy in accepting requests. :) Bluetooth file transfer is no biggie for me either.

But, yeah I do miss being able to use the phone's 16GB memory as storage. Or the ability to set a song as a ringtone. Also the fact that they have still not introduced the Marketplace properly in India. But that's about it. Zune is no more of an evil that iTunes. The on-screen keyboard is a joy to use. Even without the Mango update, there has not been a single instance where the phone has lagged/crashed.

Sure, it is not as flexible as Android. But then, it is not trying to be a computer in a phone. :)

Really funny article. Thanks for the share. The guy is hilarious. And I don't think he comes across as an apple fanboi; he is pretty critical of them too.

When that idiot said 'AMOLED gorilla glass screen', i understoo what kind of expert he is. And yes, it was utter waste of time as he is no way a proper reviewer. it's a funny article that showcases what happens when you hire a funny tech n00b.

and anyways, it's techtree, which is filled with trolls and fanboys.

Agreed! Felt more like his impressions. Way to go Techtree. :thumb:

I bet our members of the forum can put up a better show than this.

The writer seems frustrated with his life, like he's jailed or something (like getting married?), and at that time, he got the most restrictive OS ever(or is it iOS?), what a way to go.

Best line from the article

Code:
I screamed, dropped the phone, and fell on the ground, rolling all over the [b]dirty TechTree floor in agony.[/b]

and the best comment ;)

Code:
I just wish your parents had used protection on that fateful night. The world would be a better place without your lies.

Just a wannabe writer wanting to make his 'story' humorous. He doesn't know where to stop with that slapstick humor of his, and that's that. Nice try though. :)

TL;DR of the "review". Windows Phone 7 has two unique selling points

  • Microsoft Office
  • Yes, it will give you more friends. But none that read TechTree.
