I guess many people are still reading Ankit Fadia's books, no wonder telnet is still discussed... i'm no expert or even a n00b, because i haven't really entered this field, but AFAIK, linux is the way to go... and there are plenty of such books available, but please do not fall for ankit fadia's gimmicks!
