Here is my config :

Graphics : ATi 4850
Proccy : E7200 @ Stock [ 2.66GHz ]
Ram : 4 Gb Corsair Performance Series [ Dual Channel ]
Mobo : Abit IP-35
SMPS : POV BLACK DIAMOND 500W
Monitor : 19" @ 1440x900

The config looks good enuff on paper IMO to run games [ specially based on source engine] at pretty good settings.

But TF2 is becoming a real PAIN. Specially in PAYLOAD maps the FPS is really dropping. Right now i am at medium texture , rest everything HIGH,

AA = 2x , AF = 2x [ Both forced thru ATi Catalyst ]

Basically i dont want the game to look less Eye Candy than it is right now , but i want a stable FPS, currently it drops to a ridiculous 30 ~35.

Also i am running the above RIG on a POV Black Diamond 500W , so will overclocking my proccy be a safe option, because i think it may be becoming a bottleneck , since TF2 is a proccy intensive GAME.

I am not facing a problem in any other game which are all running smoothly @ max setting .

Iota, this happens due to the server also at times. I do not see any fault with your hardware. Have you tried measuring your FPS on any other game?

It used to happen with me too on my BSNL connection and SH servers. FPS used to drop below 50 at times and make it really unplayable. Shots do not register due to the continuous FPS fluctuation. But with Airtel it worked fine.

So just check your FPS on any other game to rule out any hardware faults. I think its the server mostly.

This should be because of ping you get on server.. I have less config than yours, but still I get very good FPS for TF2...

I don't think this is due to the ping. Mostly due to the choke or loss or other server side issues.

Do you have the multicore support on? that causes slowdowns sometimes as its still buggy.I turned it off after a few days when it was launched.

Will try the Multi Core thing and report BACK.

And i have noticed the FPS going haywire due to pings . Maybe it is because of that as TF2 is the only game that is giving me problems.

One thing i want to ask is that : Which is better enabling AA from ATi control centre or thru in-game ??
