Gotta try it, looking at the reviews, but am worried about connectivity on my wimax connection...

Anyone playing it on Reliance, and also how much for the game ?

i think you will be able to play

850 bux for orange box which has tf2 & many other nice games

Shripad will be in a better situation to answer about reliance wimax

yeah u will get it on orange box for around 900/-rs.i have tried it in reliance. the game has got lot of attention like counter strike. there are TF2 clans in many major cities

go here select country as Singapore and game as TF2. See the IP's of servers like Starhub and E-club and ping them from run command (if you have a windows OS)

Check your pings(latency) if they are above 200+, you are gonna have some issues playing with some classes (there are 9 classes) like soldier and sniper .

105ms is brilliant ping btw.....dunno about UT but for TF2 and CSS its quite amazing... Anything under 150 is nice.

TF2 plays stellar with anything below 200ms. No need to lead targets like Quake or UT; you can aim and fire as if you were on a LAN.

Btw, if you want to try the game, I have a free guest pass that will let you play for 3 days.
Let me know.

Reliance Wimax user here. They have different routings at times for different IP groups but yes there are plenty of ~100-130ms Asian servers. EU gives between 150 and 200ms and there are many many more servers there. Indian servers ping 50. Pretty flawless for the past few months. No packet loss...nothing. Wimax gives pings of around 25-35ms to the local gateway.

^ No. This weekend is a free-for-all since it's TF2's 1st birthday (right now would be a good time to try TF2).
While the guest pass has an expiration date of 20th September.

Btw, just got back from the game and today being TF2's birthday, everyone was wearing party-hats :P.
And anyplace in the map where a lot of players got fragged, there was an explosion of balloons and ribbons :D.

Reliance has been completely transformed since I reported pings back in Jan -Feb 2008.

In those days I used to get better pings on EU servers than asian.

Now, pings on Singapore servers are just brilliance. usually 100-110.

So no issues playing TF2 on SG servers anymore.

Ok so what do I need for the game to work, where do I download from ?
- Get Steam.
- TF2 should be listed under games that you 'own' as long as the free-for-all period is on.
- Install and play.

Although the game is huge (around 7gb), so not sure if you will be able to get it in time.
If you are too late, just let it download and you can play with my guest pass on any 3 consecutive days of your choosing.

A better idea would be to get ur hands on a DVD of orange box and load it. Even better would be to have a TF2 backup from a friend, completely updated, and install it on the system. This would work when u have Tf2 in the list of not installed. You can play during the free weekend and even using the guest pass. Rel WImax is fine, i have a friend in delhi and he can play well using that connection. But routing issues do exist, with Vstreet giving him 270 pings sometimes. SG is usually fine at 90-100 for him.

this is true. reliance used to ping better to eu servers up until march-april and singapore pings were atrocious. it's much better now.

aces, if you want i have a key as well. not sure if it works but you can try and chain saumil's and mine to play for free for 6 days :)
