Thank you Pakistan, says Facebook

Mumbai, April 26 -- Trust social networking sites to not miss a chance to have a say in any heated current topic. Fan pages and messages on two popular sites - Facebook and Twitter - are fast becoming an ideal place for Internet junkies to vent.

Facebook reportedly has over 90 fan pages on Sania Mirza and her much talked about wedding to Pakistani cricketer, Shaoib Mallik. The page called 'Thank you Pakistan for taking Sania Mirza, now please take Rakhi Sawant also' has earned itself over 65,000 fans in a matter of two weeks. It currently has over 75,000 people supporting the statement.

And the popularity of the other group,'Throw away Shashi Tharoor and Lalit Modi', only puts in perspective how much importance the public spat between the two political figures is actually being given. As against the 65,000 fans for Sania's group, this page has only 30-odd members.

The category of this group proudly falls under Common Interest - Politics, while the description is 'throw away these un required people.' The topics of conversation on either site concern young enthusiasts making fun of how both the issues were given reverence on national news.

While a part of the page has also become a ground for debate between Internet junkies from both the neighbouring nations on various topics, the albums have been loaded with images of Rakhi Sawant and one of her alleged forced kiss with Mika Singh as well.

Poor lil Sania.. hope she doesnt takes it too srsly.. Not that bad was she ?

Somebody pls create similar wishthread on Mayawati and MNS also .. ;)

Just shows the ignorance of Indians, matters which are of no consequence to the country are getting a lot of attention, as people are more interested in the glamour aspect..

Lalit Modi is a perfect example, how can one man be responsible for the whole IPL mess. Make him a fall guy, and conveniently dust everything behind a carpet. The person who is responsible for the whole mess is sitting high and un-affected (Sharad Pawar), why cant he anytime be made a fall guy, I mean goddamn just take him on top of a tall building and let him be the "fall" guy.. The amount of money he has made for himself in the fields of cricket, agriculture, education etc is astounding. That guy will enter any field, where the money is huge..

What has Rakhi Sawant done which is harming the country as a whole? Rather take Sharad Pawar, Mayawatti, Amar Singh and the likes and then we are talking about a deal..

Being too optimistic now are we..?? :bleh:
But i would like to see how these 2 penny worth politicians will react if any sch Internet campaign is launched against them.

They usually apply the blanket bans on the gen demonstration against them.

Finally a post that makes sense :P

Media has gone overbord this time. TOI reported the wedding and crap on the front page! how lame can they get?

The main attraction is *distraction*

View: Fiddling while the country burns: Rediff.com India News
Three issues should be dominating media coverage in India: China's imperial ambitions, Pakistan's increasing closeness to the US and its crucial role in Afghanistan and the Naxal insurgency, not the IPL controversies, writes Rajeev Srinivasan.
In India they play cricket rather than gladiatorial sports. More serious issues have vanished completely from the public consciousness: 'Manufacturing consent' as lamented by Noam Chomsky is now more applicable to the Indian media-babu-neta circus than the American military-industrial-media complex.
I have let go. These news channels are nothing more than tabloids. Some of them are remote controlled by political parties. Others combine everything from background scores from horror movies to paranoia struck news correspondents. Sania marring shoaib is news? Aren't there a few wars going on in the world? These reporters make me sick. And they have the nerve to call themselves "reporters". They should turn there mother fu@king licences in. The govt. is in on this drama. Like i said, the main attraction is *distraction*.

Really good post, and makes sense. What really surprised me, the depth of probe and interest the government (including opposition) is taking to level out BCCI and the IPL Commissioner. So many of our ministers also "shine" in similar manner, but soon vanish. We hear they are corrupt, did some misdoings, caused this much loss, but still are functional. A. Raja is such a case, for providing communciation licenses at incorrect rates. He just made a statement, what he did was correct. End of story. Sigh.

Add a raja to that list with his telecom scam, and he is like no big deal, i played by the book.

What I dont get it is why didnt the opposition parties make a big deal out of it.

^^

I think yesterday there was a debate raised by the opposition. They want an inquiry. Apparently A.Raja did not attend the session. He is accused of, lobbying with telecom giants to vend licenses.

Currently phone tapping is of more importance vs. the crores of loss incurred.

unfortunately/fortunately the fate of our country lies completely in the hands of media. People wouldn wanna show ignorance or acceptance by their own thoughts but by what the media shows them. Unless the media doesn publicize on more concerning matters we indians will always be more keen to know in whats happening in Rakhi's and lalit,s life. Not that the media is doing a shoddy job but they can do wonders if they want to and bring down the worst of the politicians if they want to.

this country has billions & billions of money & only handful 1000's to manipulate it, while the world is still in so called recession, how much time has really passed since we have come of "SLOWDOWN" ????????

Agreed to this statement:cool2:. Not every top management person of the company is to blame for the mess:ashamed:. It is an illiterate behavior. It's more like passing on the buckets and blaming a person who can be easily shot and dragged down:huh:.

What has Rakhi Sawant done which is harming the country as a whole? Rather take Sharad Pawar, Mayawatti, Amar Singh and the likes and then we are talking about a deal..

Wont agree on this statement as Rakhi Sawant is the biggest mess in Bollywood:@ and possibly the minister in his own profile;). But both should be compared on similar grounds:no:.

Haha, I could see that coming. Except that there's already a Sania Mirza thread on the exact same topic.
