Ontario, California, November 8, 2006 — XFX changes the face of gaming yet again with the release of the all-new GeForce® 8800 GTX and GeForce® 8800 GTS graphics processing units (GPUs). Offering unprecedented processing power and unparalleled levels of graphics realism and special effects, the only other “un†that comes to mind is “unbelievableâ€!
Sunny Narain, VP-Regional Sales, XFX, Hong Kong, said, “XFX, known by gamers worldwide for its mind-blowing, performance-crushing and competition-obliterating video cards and main boards—as well as its recent collaborations with No. 1 Gamer Fatal1ty—couldn’t be happier to add these two new outstanding GPUs to its already impressive list of gaming componentsâ€.
“So let’s cut to the chase: Just how fast are these new GPUs? Faster than a dual GeForce® 7900 GTX running in SLI mode. Faster, even, than a single GeForce® 7950 GX2 card. And, the GeForce® 8800 GTX has a 24 pixel per clock ROP. The GTS? A 20 pixel per clock ROPâ€, Mr. Sunny Narain further added.
Based on the revolutionary new GeForce 8 graphics architecture, these powerful new GeForce® 8800 GTX and GeForce® 8800 GTS GPUs are the industry’s first DirectX® 10 compatible GPUs and are the reference GPUs for the DirectX® 10 development and certification.
Rocking the gaming world with a fully unified shader core that dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations and unified stream processors that efficiently process geometry shader programs, while reducing dependence on the CPU for geometry processing, the GeForce® 8800 GTX and GeForce® 8800 GTS feature NVIDIA® GigaThread™ technology that supports thousands of independent simultaneous threads for maximum GPU utilization. Shader Model(SM) 4.0 enables more complex operations on the GPU and reduces the load and CPU cycles.
Stream Out enables programmers to add more detail without having to re-render the entire pipeline and Geometry Shaders permit geometry creation and tessellation for smooth curved surfaces and more lifelike character animation, including more realistic facial expressions and hair.
Occupying the space of two slots, each of these GPUs uses high-speed GDDR3 memory and are HDCP capable.
The new 8800 series graphic cards is available through XFX national distributor Rashi Peripherals 47 branches and select Rashi partners all over India. The suggested end-user price (tax paid) is Model no. - PV-T80G-THF9 (8800GTS) - Rs.34000 and Model No. - PV-T80F-SHF9 (8800GTX) - Rs.42000. All XFX graphic cards carry 3 years Rashi warranty.

Prices are  Reminds me of the 6800GT prices on launch.

Here's what's funny though, sorry not funny, friggggin hilarious... TT, in their review, ripped off Darky's BIG GO price of 36k as the estimated price for GTX and now XFX launches at 42k

RIO, two words, Estimated .. and 'BIG' :ohyeah:

Does it matter what card it is cos all of them are reference designs. If he posted the price darky quoted, he should have atleast asked dark before posting. As simple as that.

^^Or more importantly, given credit to the source. Anyway, I'm waiting for that price to be corrected :P

Just a Warning -

The GeForce® 8800 GTS and GeForce® 8800 GTX cards are here and ready to go. These flagship cards come with a swirl of pre-press reports indicating that there is a BOM error, or wrong resistor value, on GeForce 8800 GTX cards. Please be assured that all boards with this problem were purged from the production pipeline, and that all available product is fully qualified and certified by NVIDIA and XFX. NVIDIA and XFX stand behind these cards and back them with a full warranty.

So, WAIT........

^^ Lol, XfX had a similar problem with their AGP 6600GT's :P, quality control time for em

Too much too fast from nV ?

Keep on assuming. Frankly speaking, I used to pay a lot of attention to community feedback from TE, and discuss it out with the heads. But people like you and Vijay Shimla really discourages us. Its really easy to sit in the audience chair and critisize.

So, this is what I have decided to do!!!! Come Jan 2007, any of you are invited to visit Techtree Testlabs, see the inside workings, understand how a websites runs, what problems it faces and even give you a chance to be a guest reviewer (Obviously you will get to use unreleased hardware):cool2:

All I m trying to say is that if you dont like a site, theres no reason to abuse it. After all, we are giving free service and not charging anything. maybe , mis-use of freedom of speech.:( :( :( :(

Well well well, obviously you seem to know more about running a business... pardon my ignorance. However, we do have 1 issue... noone criticized the review, please point out where in case I missed it. And why don't you clear up the air and tell us where you heard the estimated price of the GTX.

And Punit, I just said in the 3dmark 06 thread that TT seem to be taking our criticism seriously.

The latest article was something I would have never expected from TT :P

But good going dude !!

Nvidia themselves told us the price will be nearly in the estimation range of 36,000. Again, we got the reference model and not any specific brand. We got the 680i Motherboard and 8800 GTX directly from Nvidia, and not any channel partners. Nvidia keeps strong channel relationship and invest a lot in India (ever seen Nvidia Experience Zone in Lam Road, which is fully sponsered by Nvidia). They know the price at which channel partners will import, pay certain duties and finally a good margin. All that adds up to around 35000-36000.

When 7950 GX2 was launched, we were quoted a price of 38K from Nvidia. BIG gave us a price of 39K, XFX gave us a price of 33k, leadtek gave us a price of 42k and ECS was the cheapest of the lot at 32k. Every vendor will quote a super high price first, coz they know people who will buy will pay any price. Over the time, the price drops and becomes stable. Give it a week or two, you will definatly get even the XFX 8800 GTX in 36k or even less.

The reason I take it seriously?? I myself was born out of a similar place. I loved overclocking and modding, but unfortunatly its not possible to show now, because it was all done over 6-7 years ago. I remember clearly, when I used to pay 80 bucks a hour for cyber cafe cost, just to see the forums on Anandtech and Tomshardware. What many of you all are going through now, has already been experienced by me, many years ago. Deejay was very well known even that time, though I didnt had the chance to meet him F2F earlier. When I had joined TT, I came to know that even my team-mates knew Deejay,:D :D

I had even made a Matrix Cabinet, with all green ASCII Symbols over a black painted Cabinet, Green Color Acralyc, and White Philips 18W CFLs Inside, I had all that in year 2000, when I loads of free time. Then I got busy with Engg studies, and after studies, I joined TT due to pure technology passion. Meet me or any other Techtree Reviewer F2F, you will realise that they are no different than you. We have faced difficulties in growing Techtree up, right from when we used to 1000 hits per day to an todays average of 150,000. We had very little resources, as people (in India atleast) didnt belive much in Online media. It is of 2006 start, we have got in a very good position, in terms of contacts, finance and future plans. The testlabs that we discuss is nuthin more than a extra 3 feet desk space given to us. We are now finally getting a full fleged testlabs, which will allow us to test in proper condition. We are getting in a 30" Dell Screen for testing graphic card, True 1080P HD LCD TV for XBOX 360 and PS3 games, 300' by 300' White board for testing projector, Video shooting studio for video reviews, photo shooting studio...All these were made with savings made over 4 years time. Till date, Techtree as a whole is still to make money, but we belive it will pay back eventually.

For a funny fact, I used to sit on 1.5 feet stool on my first 4 months of job. I could have joined a magazine like Digit or PC Quest, but I never belived in magazine in limited writing, never-accurate testing and always outdated as usual. . Now these magazine are also comming up with full fleged online sites, as future is totally online. Techtree used to loose lots of money before for paying bandwidth cost on ridicously high bandwidth cost. Its recently, that prices have come down. Currently, we are doing over 75GB Transfer every month and it cost us a quater of what we used to pay before.

The Techtree CMS has been used for almost four years and as of today is in critical stages. its broken at various place and any tries to repair creates more problems. Once we finish making the Test labs, we will concentrate on re-coding and re-invent the whole site. In the mean-time, we will creating a strictly followed format for news, reviews and lots of upcomming section.

:rofl; my thread is going completely OT from wrong price on TT to a feud between RiO, MaxAxe & evilution & nostalgia by evilution :P

Evil, .... I have one complaint to make about the review ........... why did you completely miss out on the 680' chipset (btw the board you got was not a reference board, but from EVGA)

Also, the prices, Man, everything is so vague right now so I guess the prices you guys have is for the GTS version and not GTX. coz GTS is gonna start first an GTX towards the later half of this month.

Thanks for the history lesson, Evilution, and sorry you felt discouraged earlier about my simple question - I found the answer I was looking for, however, so no sweat there. Anyway, about pricing - I will guarantee that GTX price will not drop to 36k until R600 or the G80 refresh is out.

One last thing before the trumpet goes off again... I'd like to save you the trouble of showing me how a website runs by letting you know I had built a successful ecommerce business while you were still in college.

@MaxAxe, listen to Darky and lay off the crack, would you please?

Well, there three reason we were not able to review the motherboard.

1]Lack of time as we had just three days with the whole sh!t

2]Nvidia gave us the final bios on wednesday night.

3}We didnt had anything to compare to, we just have another X6800 CPu with Asus 590i SLI Mobo. The Intel 975 wud had been a better choice for comparison.

Cool, so we can expect another G80 review then with different chipsets ( I already like the sound of it :hap2: )
