Whichone is better? Github or Hackaday.io?
Hackaday release some kind of update this week which makes it possible to ask for volunteers with specific skillsets.

Wow, some really good discussion, the house automation talk gets me excited, but I really need to complete one simple project on the Pi/Arduino to be on the same page with you guys. I love @superczar project that what got me reading, unfortunately never followed through.

@avi you keep suggesting Aliexpress, but what are the delivery times and reliability? Have you used it earlier?

@superczar Where did you get the NRF24L01 for less than Rs.100?
How many pieces did you buy.

ebay.in - someone was selling a set of 5 i think, i needed around 7-8

try ebay.com or ali express. 160Rs each here

Painful to order from Shenzhen/HK
a) It takes forever for the order to reach , as is online has no instant gratification , but with the chinapost shipments, the gratification is like for a new incarnation of you own self
b) It often requires followups with the local PO as at times, there is a minor duty imposed which the postman is supposed to collect at time of delivery - They usually never bother to contact you or leave a note and are often happy to return it

If lucky, 6-7 weeks without duty
Normally, 2-3 months and w/o duty
Sometimes 2-3 months with duty (although small)
If unlucky, never :P
\(has happened on a couple of occasions on ebay.com, once i forgot that the item never reached given it takes so damned long
When I realized, it was too late
Second time I did raise a ticket, seller resent the item (Fuji Camera battery) which also did not reach - Didn't bother to raise ticket after that as I don;t really think it was the seller's fault)

I am strongly disinclined from ordering via aliexpress unless
a) Its a high value item that will be shipped through a paid service like Fedex (Typically takes 4-6 days)
b) Its a low value item with a really significant price differential between India and AE
c) Its an item that just cannot be sourced locally

no false info please, 8 weeks is the max for most of the listings. If you did not receive by that time, you will get full refund.

I usually get my orders in 15-20 days.

Not false info, just speaking from what I have experienced so far- I have sent a notification of non receipt around the 8 week period and the seller has each time asked for a small extension - Given it does take so long, i have ended up agreeing to it each time
To be honest, non receipt is usually not an issue and the only times I have faced it has been on account of my own laziness
However I do maintain a very strong preference for ordering locally as I am big on quick gratification :)

well you shoudn't give extension
Maybe, but since your typical orders from sites like AE are low value items that you need as of yesterday, it does seem to be a better option than repurchasing and waiting longer
OTOH, you may end up paying 20-30% more on ebay.in but you do get the item in a few days
Anyway, i think we have gone way Off topic :)

Stocks are limited, so order quickly. At first I thought it's a clone, but it's not. I confirmed from them before ordering:
This m0therfuck3r is selling fake UNOs... he sold me a fake one too... and yours is 100% fake too. post its pic if you've got hold of yours.

You sure? :( I just received them and they do look genuine
As long as they work, does it really matter?
I am using a bunch of clones only, of the 10 odd Nano/Pro Minis I ordered , only 1 turned out to be bad
The rest work as well as they should

Let me throw in some show-off screenshots of data from the el-cheapo clones and nrf24l01+ based modules :p

Well I paid for original Unos so I expect to get original ones. (In case you don't know, read this. TLDR; Proto Central sold me a cheap ass Chinese breadboard saying its from Sparkfun. I called out, they insulted me. After couple of emails, they realised their mistake and ended up paying me lot more than a ₹150 breadboard)

@Criminal sorry for delay, I was out. Here are the pics. They did not come in any box and also no official manual or stickers.

They came in a sealed pack like this:

if you are paying for the original, you are supporting the Arduino makers.

yes, clones work the same but why do you think it's alright to be cheated?

@avi, thanks for the pics. yes, yours is a counterfeit. you can check out pic of the original on arduino's official website. and then there's a neat video on youtube on how to spot the fake. i've used original Arduino in the past, so i knew mine was fake the moment i opened the pack. let me know if you want the links.

easy clues are:
- original is not dark blue. it's somewhere between teal and light blue. the back is dual color. UNO logo is different.
- one resistor is missing somewhere around pin8 of the chip.
- pins etc are not perfectly aligned. original is just perfect in build.
- your USB and power port look so cheap.
- missing stickers/original packaging/Arduino leaflet

If you check on the arduino.cc website, the price of the Arduino UNO is 20 euro + VAT.
20 Euro ~ 1370 INR

You bought this product for around Rs.780.
So how are you expecting to get an original Uno for half the original price? Just because the seller claimed so?

P.S - Can you check and tell me which USB interfacing IC is being used by this board? The FT232RL or an Atmega32U or something else?

Clearance sale, I thought. (think Radio Shack)

Are you talking about that small IC next USB pin? It says MEGA16U2.
