Good performance, 180$ Q8400.

Once more we have a situation where the Q8400 and Phenom II 940 are similar in performance, with AMD holding onto a negligible 5% ~ advantage.

In power consumption test, Q8400 wins, Phenom II X4 940 needs another 32W~.

Even @ only 3.36GHz OC Q8400 pwns PII X4 940 3.6GHz very badly.

lntel's profit margin is good.

the game benchmark's were done at 1680x1050 that not a good resolution to check cpu scalability....they must have done it at 1024x768

X3 720BE was neck to neck wid Q8400 at stock.

would have made a difference if comparison was between 720BE Q8400...

Title could have been AMD's $139 competitor for Intel Q8400

btw X4 940 isnt that costly at $189.99 compared to Q8400 ($184.99)

haan not costly, but Intel pricing in India is too good, mostly cheaper than Newegg except high end stuff. This CPU will be 9.7k~ here.

Bah U only just checking gaming benchmarks.

Remember its 2.66GHz 4MB vs 3GHz Phenom II, clock to clock Q8400 is faster, also performance / Watt.

9.7k locally will make it vfm over pIIx4 940.

comparison wid 720BE was regarding gaming only.

in all other benchies i found 940 n Q8400 neck to neck. i would get whichever that is cheaper as a platform.

none the less 9.7k will be great pricing.

The cheapest quadcore bang for the buck was Q6600, 9 Multi n 8MB Cache. @ stock volts 3GHz~, 3.5-3.6 with good cooler.

I will still reccommend used Q6600 over Q8400. The only real advantage the Q8400 has over the Q6600 is maybe runs a little cooler, good performance @ stock and slightly lesser power consumption.

Extra L2 Cache helps in Winrar+Games, if U see Q8400 2.66 vs Q9400 2.66, there is 6% jump.

E5200 in dual core's = Q6600 in quad core CPUs (value for money wise)
