You can try, half clutch + break, for up hill. Just practice on a normal road. Keep the break full pressed, and bring the clutch up half, where it bites. Then using the break (which you release slowly), the car will start to move. As soon as you get some momentum release the break more and disengage the clutch normally.
from running on slope to brake
1. press brake partially to reduce speed
2. When you are near stand still, press clutch so that engine does not stall
3. Press brake fully
4. Apply handbrake. You may now put the car in neutral, depress clutch and brake
5. You can even turn the engine off
For starting.
1. ensure neutral
2. start engine
3. Press clutch
4. Put in 1st gear
5. Like we drive off in 1st gear, start pressing accelerator slightly and start depressing clutch
6. You will feel car lifting slightly from front when the clutch engages to engine.
7. This is the time when you can depress the handbrake and increase acceleration.
advantages of this method
1. Reduces fuel consumption compared to half clutch - accelerator method
2. its sure shot, car will not roll backwards any time even if you stall in 1st gear
Probably they will be included in the refreshed version which might come after a year.
BTW the Euro spec i20 has gorgeous DRLs integrated in the headlamp assembly while we are made to wait for it
Congratulations. Beautiful car. Ride safe always and try to follow rules as much as practically possible (In India sometimes there is no way out). Remember each man or woman can make a difference.
