It's that time of the year when you start thinking about the F1 season ahead. Who will win? Will Schumacher regain his magic touch? Will India repeat the Commonwealth fiasco?

Welcome to the F1 2011 season.. Three pretty big reasons for Indian fans to follow this season:

1. The first ever Indian GP scheduled to be held at the Greater Noida Expressway on 30th October.

2. Narain Karthikeyan back on track racing for Hispania.

3. Mallya's Force India team which made phenomenal improvements in the last season.

Some crucial rule changes this season:

1. The 107% rule is back. Cars not completing their qualifying timings within 107% of the fastest lap in Q1 will not be allowed to compete.

2. KERS is back - optional for teams.

3. DRS makes an entry in F1 (No.. not the controversial UDRS of ICC :P ) - Drag Reduction System is mainly supposed to allow better overtaking, hence more competitive races rather than mere processions. There are certain rules in using this too - like, it cannot be used in the first 2 laps of start or restart; can be used only when the driver is less than a second far from the car ahead, etc..

And, team changes were aplenty. All in all, this promises to be an exciting year for F1 fans world over. Let's see what 2011 has in store for us. :)

Though i so much wished that the "refueling" was brought back.. but alas.. still.. GO ALONSO!!!! :P

it should have already started 2 weeks ago, but due to chaos it didnt. :-(

I like to see the rivalry between the top 5 teams this season. Everyone's going Ga-ga about their own innovative(though copied) exhaust concepts, radical sidepod changes, new floor, and lastly the legs for the cars(tyres). In a way its a good thing that qualifying wont be the only deciding factor to win the race, loads of factors are coming to picture.

May the best team win... I am rooting for Ferrari.

hey any of you guys know where i can watch F1 online... And I hope this time Schumacher shows some action... And may the best team win...

Schumacher!!!!!!! India will make a total mess of the event - mark my words!

I doubt that... why!! Mallaya has his stakes and his self-image. If this one screws up, he wont have any place to cover his face among international ppl.

I hope starsports/ESPN show them in HD.

It was said that star sports would be broadcasting in HD, read it long time back..

Besides F1 has never been broadcasted in HD (exception being one of the Japan GP - probably last to last yr)..

^^ The track should be completed and it should be approved by the FIA. I think there's still a long way to go before we start thinking about tickets.

Robert Kubica won't be on the grid. I hope RK recovers well and returns this year.

Sad to see that Kimi isn't coming back and has mentioned that he might not come back in future either. I really hopes he comes back next year.

Hispania has done no testing so far and I doubt if they can make it to the starting grid with the 107% rule in the first few races. Reliability will be another issue.

In my opinion Karun is the better Indian driver but he will be the reserve driver for Lotus this year.

Optional KERS - I hope this year doesn't turn out like 2009 where teams were better off without KERS and some of them who used them dropped the idea later on.

With DRS overtaking is manufactured so I won't say that it will be competitive racing.

Does anyone know if KERS and DRS can be used in 1 overtaking move?

During the Qualifying DRS can be used whenever needed but during the race it can only be used during predecided areas of the ciruit...whereas no such restriction is there for the KERS.. So I believe if someone uses KERS and DRS in that specific sector then it should be fine..!

It says "Vettel claims his second career Pole" as its first news item!

There it goes,The red bull ,anything other than one-two would be surprising.
