Man what is it with Indian Manufacturers and the Tyres They are so small for a Pick up

Spot on! In the first pic, the front fender flares are so frickin huge compared to the tyres. And for those who say "then you can fit in bigger tyres"... that's precisely the point... why are big tyres not factory fitted in the first place?

One reason is that bigger tyres (increased width, height or both) require more engine power to rotate and that would make every reviewer/buyer feel that the vehicles are underpowered [as all Indian "SUVs" have castrated engines (compared to even an REAL entry level SUV engine)]

well, because if you make the tyres fill the wheel arches, suspension travel goes for a toss, and you want to have as much of it as possible in india, where potholes and rocks can attack you from out of nowhere. even cars like the SX4 have increased the suspension travel in their indian versions , giving that "up on stilts" look

and why not bigger wheels ? because if you increase the rim size, you'll need to decrease the tyre profile. good for handling on tracks and city roads, bad for ride quality over village and non existent roads.

and here in india, FE rules. people might not crib if it gets stuck in the sand or mud a bit more often, even if its supposed to be an SUV, but they will whine to everyone and his neighbour about crappy FE

sure , It might not look good, but it gets the job done, the way Most people want it ;)

And the enthusiasts are welcome to mod it to their preferences :)

Well said.

When I meant bigger tyres ,they were specifically for the looks ! Kinda adds to the Big Mean PICK-UP TRUCK presence.

So it really depends on the owner as to what he chooses to do about it...

Slightly thicker/bigger tyres won't affect the vehicle ride/FE (as opposed to big-ass kick-ass tyres:P ) that much and lets not forget its powered by a 2.2L engine.

And like greenhorn rightly said...

"It might not look good, but it gets the job done, the way Most people want it !"

Thats the right tyre size for her, IMO.
