Well in actual terms if one weighs games then the Nondeterministic approach of Tetris and Snake makes them the toughest games ever

"Nosferatu - The Wrath of Malachi" - Played this one long time back. It is very dark since the levels are at night and inside Dracula's castle.

"Firestarter" - Tough to play even on "Beginner" difficulty. And totally worthless as an FPS.

Yes remember that. I stopped playing it for a few weeks. Then picked it again. Became frustrating at times.

Well all GTA games were easy, all had 1 or 2 "tough" missions. While GTA3 had many such tough missions because of small time limit and lack of full map, in Vice City it was the "Dildo Dodo", distributing film fliers from air in that $hitty plane and in San Andreas, it was learning to fly itself.

Just in case, the posters have missed the point the OP has highlighted specifically -

And by hardest, I don't mean the hardest setting. The default level should have made you feel ripping the skin of the developers for creating such a monstrosity.

The harder settings on any game are bound to be hard duh! :\
