So my iPad 1st gen's display has stopped working. On pressing the Home or Power buttons, the backlight does turn on but there is no display on the screen.
In Lucknow, service is handled by Redington, which are the worst kind of A.S.S providers of any kind. Heading to Delhi tomorrow, should I show it to any service center there ? I tried calling the Apple CC at the toll free number on the website, but it's unreachable from all the networks (Airtel/Reliance/BSNL).
The iPad is out of warranty (purchased in March 2010).
What can be the problem ? Is service center the best way or after market repair ? Anybody had any similar issues ?
 
What are some good iPad Mini scratchguards, possibly anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint but not matte ?

I visited the repair center twice, and the staff was too good to replace my iPad and iPhone 4S. Get a quote from them and if you feel its too costly, you can get it repaired locally via Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh. Though, I would suggest to go through official route first and get a quote for the repair.

Try Amzer from fommy.co.in. I am using one for my iPad from last 2-3 months.

Got a quote locally in Lucknow. Said they cannot repair it. Will change for a refurbished one for 17k. :/
iRepair.in says 6.5k for LCD replacement.
 
Guys which app do you suggest for streaming 720p and 1080p videos from PC. All the apps i have come across use a server side program on PC which converts the video on the fly and the iPad streams it. Is there any app which uses SMB to access the file and a local or integrated media player to play that video using the iPads hardware.
Most of the famous ones now don't have support for AC-3.

AVPlayer HD supports AC-3 format.... no idea of streaming video... may be some one else here can answer that ......
 
have downloaded like 4 players by now (all free); all giving issues.
Can you please link me to the itunes link of PlayerXterme HD? Can't find this in the indian store

No problem, run 5.1 channel .mkv file (more than 5gb in size) without any problem....Audio output 2 channel normal at headphone.

already bought AV Player HD and i think that there software AVStreamer HD is also one of the best ones out there. But sadly they can't beat the combination of ES File Explorer and a good media player on Android. Every streaming app requires you to have a server side app which gets installed on the PC and uses the PC's resources to convert the video on the fly.
 
IIRC, I had used a media player on my iPad which supported streaming from SAMBA servers. it worked fine for streaming files fine from my pogoplug. the interface was a bit basic though. forgot the name though.

Seems like they remove it, it not listed anymore iTune Store India.....I download it 28/12/12.

yes thats the scene , coz even i couldn't find in iTunes India store, so searched my purchases and found it which i have downloaded and deleted on my ipad earlier....
 
I just bought one iPad mini 32 GB Cellular from a local non-authorized shop. Will there be any issues in claiming the warranty ? I did get the bill with Vat.

AFAIK, iPad warranties are based on serial number and hence you won't have any problems claiming the warranty in case the need arises.

According to me don't cut down on the Scratchguard. Thats one thing that you aren't going to change anytime soon. I got the Klia from Capdase. Its wonderful. No pixelation and rainbow effect. Quite good anti-fingerprint protection.

Yeah the guy at a particular premium reseller had me worried. First he said there could be issues and then he said the iPads and iPhones sold from non-authorized resellers get their warranty clock started from the manufacturing date instead of activation date. However he was wrong just checked the warranty, it started counting from yesterday.

iPhones if they are not India pieces then you won't have warranty on them.

I purchased iPhone 5 from a Samsung Authorized shop, and my warranty started the day I activated it. You can check the warranty of your device yourself online. Doesn't really matter if you purchase from Apple authorized reseller or a local seller.

Even if you purchase iPod/iPad from US, afaik the warranty of both the products (Non-3g) are still valid here in India. Only exception, is iPhone 5.
