^whats the use, wen you buy a top end thing and it gets outdated in 6months?? Its the feeling that matters..If i buy a ps3 i can be happy knowing i own a niche product with best performance in its category for atleast 3yrs..
More over dont forget that as the console ages, game makers learn the best ways to optimise the games on the consoles, so there is quality improvement there also..
Thirdly, as most of these rigs are for gaming, it makes sense to go for consoles as they offer a richer gaming experience..also with likes of xbox 360 running linux, there's lot less to complain..

One argue that keyboard and mouse are diff, well most consoles hav keyboard mouse accessories too:P

Why do you always bring linux into the talk when you yourself dont use it!

True Xbox 360 can support linux, how many gonna use it?

Consoles would always be better for main stream gamers, and gaming pc's will always be a expensive hobby, but then maxxing out games with all the AA/AF is priceless. :P However I would prefer 3 x GTX280 rather than 2x 4870x2. A setup pretty close to that pc's power can be built much cheaply though.

@udit : Actually HX1000 should easily handly 2x 4870x2, coming from my experience after playing with overclocked 3 x 280's , qx9650 @ 4.2 ghz and so on!

There is no upper ceiling to this imho. I know a lot of niche products, like uber floor standers and displays, which are beyond the reach of the average enthusiast:ohyeah:

And why hasn't ne1 added phase change / chilled liquid / submerged rigs. :tongue:

Moreover, why settle for one rig when you can network a distributed chain and make a supercomputing network :rofl:

Think down to earth. Think VFM. :D

You'll only lose peace of mind and your money if you think beyond your wallet.

So now this is about PC vs consoles, and someone has thrown Bose into the fray. Amazing :ohyeah: Bring out the popcorn :clap:

Jeez, I'd rather buy a 60" Kuro, PS3, Mac Pro and still have enough cash left for a round trip to Amsterdam (Don't ask why Amsterdam now.)

Or, I'd buy two Mid-Range floorstanders, a stereo amp, a Xonar DX and spend the rest of the money sending you flowers to console you for buying the Bose :)

i would rather pay a premium of my health insurance.. :rofl: cuz if something goes wrong with those supercomps ^^.. i am sure to get a heart attack.. and that money would come in handy :P

I dont really think this was like the out of reach and spend simply for the uber hardware rig.
This is still in reach who are totally into PC gaming and want to enjoy it.

All those Console enthus, PC gaming is not dead, you still had Crysis, Bioshock to PC first. There will always be PC games.
