Re: How to deal with dandruff?

-Level1 shampoos - zinc pyrithione based --H&S,Clinic All Clear
-L2 - Ketoconazole based - Nizral and Nizoral .Nizral is more stronger than Nizoral and is only available at medicine stores OR try Selsun once if Nizral is not working for you

if Nizral doesnt work see a skin specialist ,he will inspect and write a L3 shampoo :p,COALTAR based if its fungal dandruff.
Nothing works for me i tried everything :-lemon,etc.Pure Aloe vera plant kept it on hold for few days.

Right now i am trying honey and olive oil

Why doesn't the 'like' button work for me...
go to your profile and check under Permission groups.

see if you are a member of 'privileged members'

i'm not sure if the feature depends on that but would be sane to consider it would :p

Re: How to deal with dandruff?

Get a shampoo with Ketoconazole in it. Nizoral is good, but I prefer Ketomac(inexpensive with same formula).

The key to using the Ketoconazole based shampoo is to rub this shampoo vigorously with your fingers on your scalp(make sure you don't have any nails or you'll hurt your scalp) and leave it for 5 minutes. Do it 3 times a week for now and make it 1 time a week after about 6-7 weeks. Use a mild natural shampoo(like those from Ayur) in the days between.

Also, stimulate the scalp by combing it for about 5 minutes a day. It brings out the oil in scalp and helps keep your scalp hydrated and healthy.

This is a tried and tested solution from someone who lost one-fourth of his hair to dandruff. :)

Re: How to deal with dandruff?

Hi I have been having Severe Chronic dandruff for 17 years now.

I have tried almost all meds. In my case i had to continue with the meds and am still continuing. I have been taking Homeopathy.

Actually Dandruff is something that cannot be cured, but it kept under control.

I guess in your case, Allopathy should work. Please consult a valid dermatologist, before trying out anything.

In case if you want to go for Alternate Medicine, you can try Homeopathy.

It works, provided you have a good Homeopathic Doctor and you are consistent.

Last i would suggest ayurveda. I mean what i dont like about Ayurveda is that they prescribe oil, which really stinks.

^^ My advice: Buy a can of Olive oil. Apply it 10 to 15 mins before taking bath. After bath, use the moisturizer. Works super effectively...! :)
+1

If you dont like the smell of Olive oil then use pure Vaseline Petroleum jelly.

Re: How to deal with dandruff?

Yeah dandruff cannot be cured. Infact dandruff is the condition when your scalp sheds away too much of dead skin cells. So we can control it in the best way we can.

Will first refer to my family doctor and talk about Nizoral, Ketomac & Protar-K.

Any more inputs/ suggestions or more products are welcomed.

Re: How to deal with dandruff?

I have heard that water also plays an important role in this. Say tomorrow you make a shift to another city and chances are that the dandruff may reduce / go away or even for worse it may aggrevate

for a short time before washing your hair

-Use a good quality hair brush and keep it clean

-Increase your water intake

Re: How to deal with dandruff?

First check Dandruff's irader profile for any negative feedback.
Then check his previous deal threads for any disputes/issues/misunderstandings.
Make sure you have the complete contact information for Dandruff.
:D

Re: How to deal with dandruff?

Try Nizral (2% Ketoconazole) rather than Nizoral (1% Ketoconazole) or "Scalpe" shampoo (Ketoconazole 2% +ZPT).

Better visit a dermatologist.
