Ok, so, this thread might get deleted... I am aware of that!!!

The Problem:

Members are hyper Reactive to posts especially in the General Talk Section.

The Solution:

Such Members need to 'check themselves before they wreck themselves'.....!!!

I just read the General Talk Guidelines here:
http://www.techenclave.com/general-talk/general-talk-guidelines-118950.html

And I read a comment from apextwin146 directed towards me:

Thread/Post reported. Such theads should not be entertained on TE at any cost.

Saayan if you do not have a license then do not drive the vehicle , it is as simple as that irrespective of the bike condition, papers etc. What you are asking for is a workaround for doing an illegal activity, Kudos to the Lawyer for even supporting such an activity rather than denying it in the first instance.

This is what I had said:

If you get caught without a DL, u'll mostly get away with a fine.

If you commit any other traffic offences (like hit and run for example!!) and also don't have a license, u'll land up in bigger trouble for making a multitude of offences.

:P

I had posted the above to the following query by sayaan:

hello te,

for some issues im yet to get my driving license.

now my question is what are the consequences i may face if m caught without a license riding my bike?in general and in extreme scenario?

one of my friend warned me that my bike may be seized, others say i might get away with a fine.

plz share ur experiences.

I have all the other necessary documents.

btw i live in kolkata but about 20kms from city in hooghly dist..

tia
What exactly was I expected to do?? Bash him for something he had not actually done??

He asked for the consequences that MAY result IF he was caught driving without a license.

I gave him the details. What else was expected?? That I tell him not to ride without a license and that if he did so it would be a huge crime the intensity of which cannot be explained in any language known to man.... All this for something that had not actually happened??
:@

People seriously need to understand the purpose of a Driving License.

A driving License is a license to Drive. It doesn't make you any better a driver that you already are!! If you check the statistics for Accidents, you'll see that of all the accidents caused on roads, most are caused by the people that hold valid driving licenses!!! :P

And in any case, TE is for sharing information... I never knew it was also meant for long distance law enforcement!!!

@ apextwin146: Talking about real Law enforcement, how many times have you actually stopped any person from running a traffic signal or from driving without a license?

I seriously appreciate the law abiding nature of people on the forum, but I would like to see this law abiding nature in action and not just in the form of a post that is an attempt to show how great a law abiding individual one is!!

@ Others: Tomorrow if anyone starts a thread asking about the Punishment that MAY result from Murder, are we supposed to assume that the OP intends to commit murder??

What then, we register a Criminal Case and get the OP behind bars for 'thinking about Murder'....???

What about say, Cyber Crime?? If I were to check the IP history for some 'law abiding members' here, I doubt there would be any punitive section in the Cyber Law that may not be slapped on them!!!

@ MODS: Sorry, but I cannot help this. People need to grow up!! TE should be an open platform. And If we are talking about abiding by law, I have not flouted any General Talk Guideline in this Thread IMHO!!

PEACE

Dont bash him but like rest of the replies in the thread tell him that its illegal and he shouldnt be doing it.
He has made it clear in his post that he intends to drive his new bike to his college to show it off, that means that he is going to take that illegal action which might has grevious repercussions, So you being a informed & intelligent citizen should tell him that he shouldnt do such a thing rather than telling him that he can get off with a fine, cuz this kinda attitude represents a bigger problem with us Indians
Do Crime,Pay fine and dont worry about time. This leads to a even bigger problem wherein nobody respects the law anymore since they can just pay some fine/bribe and get away with it.

People seriously need to understand the purpose of a Driving License.

A driving License is a license to Drive. It doesn't make you any better a driver that you already are!!

A license doesnt make u a better driver but it makes you a more Informed driver. Now the interpretation that a informed driver is a better driver left to you as its a more related to common sense.

If you check the statistics for Accidents, you'll see that of all the accidents caused on roads, most are caused by the people that hold valid driving licenses!!! :P
What are you trying to say here? Again by using common sense Its quite obvious that most of the accidents caused on roads would be by people who hold valid License as on those people are actually allowed to drive. I mean this statisti/study is PHAIL!

And in any case, TE is for sharing information... I never knew it was also meant for long distance law enforcement!!!
TE is for sharing information but it begs the question what kind of Information should be shared. Should we tell the fellow user that its ok to indulge in some illegal activity just because he can get away with a fine?

Also incase you would notice its the Thread that i have reported to the Mods and not your post.
Now this thread begs the question why would you create a thread to specifically take a potshot at me
1) You are too immature to realize the consequence of your actions(read replies in this case)
2) You are a spoilt brat who dsnt just want know how to handle critism and dsnt understand his/her responsibility in society.
3) Your life is so fcked up that now you are using forums to vent out your frustations

Ultimately it pains me to inform you that is it you who does not realize the paradox in this situation, Its quite evident that your reaction(opening this thread) is Hyper rather than my simple reply.

Opening threads for "sticking it to him" in trivial matters like this. THAT is hyper reaction. :O

Maybe you should take ur own advice. :S

exactly, read comments and move on. Don't take things personally. Every individual thinks differently.....

, that means that he is going to take that illegal action which might has grievous repercussions

Driving without a license is not a grievous offense .. since we are getting all lawyered up here ... :)

It is still the OPs choice to drive his bike .. I respect the fact that he came forward with such a doubt rather than getting carried away and doing it without asking anyone .. He has some respect for the law .. by going all "holier-than-thou" on him we will only make the person hate the law more and thus next time he won't even bother with finding out the repercussions of his actions.

In short, He asked - we answered - hopefully he may not do it

he asks - we yell/shout/scare him - he says 'screw you, i live by my own rules etc etc.'

Preaching like 70 yo grandpas to 18 yo kids won't ever get the right message across. Explain things on a even tone which will be equally appreciated.

Thank you for your Kind words (highlighted in bold)...

When you say that even after I didn't actually take a 'potshot' at you, it goes to show whom the 3 conditions are actually applicable to... :P

Telling him that it is illegal and he shouldn't do it makes me correct?? Well, in that case, I would like to point out that there is a difference between telling and physically doing... Which again brings me to the same question that you preferred not to answer: Did you or did you not physically stop any person from running a traffic signal or driving without a license??

One more Question: How exactly does a license make one a more informed driver?? Please enlighten me!!

Give me your address i will courier you a Rapidex & Dictionary. I wrote "grievous repercussions " where as you have understood it as a "grievous offense" . I hope you do realize the difference in meaning.
Its OPs choice to drive his Bike but there its against the law. When you live in an society you have to follow the laws laid down otherwise everyone would just do watever they would want to. As its been pointed out earlier : "Some people are alive just because its illegal to kill them". Its trully depicts my state right now.
Bty i would anyday take an advice from an 70 yrs old Grandpa over a 18 yrs old teenager, but hey thats just me but i guess u get your taxes done by a 17 yr old , Even tone yeah right!

Sincere request to Mods. Instead of a "Like" button we need to come up with an entirely new button to accomodate members like "nehaladsul". The common name for it is a Facepalm button but in this forum we can call it Nehaladsul button. Clicking on this button would automatically insert the one of the many facepalm pictures like this one

Why so Serious?? :batman:

If I were to check your spellings, I too would have to send you an Oxford Thesaurus and Dictionary...!!!

And when you say that "Some people are alive just because its illegal to kill them", I see that you are having Criminal Intentions... :O

What should be my position on this?? Let me guess... It should be this:

@ apextwin146: It is illegal and immoral to kill anyone. You should not do that. It is a grievous offence. It is an offence punishable under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code....

I repeat, Do not kill anyone. It is illegal!!!

Hope I am CORRECT now!!! :P

IMPOSSIBLE.
A salary would imply that you have a job, which is a very tall order considering you IQ. Again I hope you realize that there is a difference between pocket money and salary.
