Nothing can beat the traditional newspaper.

Can i know why dont you pay for newspaper?
There can be several reasons as to why people stopped paying/don't pay for news papers that does not necessarily have any links to ones ideology about information distribution. In fact I had myself stopped paying for news paper's and prefer to read the news online despite the fact that we get a very considerable discounts on most news paper subscriptions. My main motivation for doing so was that apparently my neighbors dog has been trained to steal news papers and my news papers vanish if I don't get them as soon as they are delivered.

Any way that speaking news paper stunt seems to have created a lot of trouble as well

Volks populi? Audio ad in TOI creates a buzz, literally - The Times of India
He Says "I dont Spend on Paid Newspapers" . Clearly there is an underlying subtext that he wants to bring out by choosing those words.
I mean Newspaper subscription is 120-200 Rs Max. Thats the amount most ppl spend on coffee in a weeks time max. So i dont think so this is a major Expense that would come under the purview of Cost Cutting or anything related to that.
You have to understand that from what he written he is trying to convey that its a conscious choice rather than a Forced option which might have been the case for with(in regards with the newspaper stealing Dog).

Can i know why dont you pay for newspaper? Are you of the opinion that Information should be freely distributed or is there another Deep rooted conspiracy at work?
There are several reasons. I used to be a ToI subscriber. But the biggest reason i guess is that i was jaded. Their are only few pages in the ToI that interest me. The rest are ads, masaala and news written under the shadow of enforced normalcy. Newspaper and coffee is not my routine.

That does not mean i boycott ToI. I regularly follow swaminomics and m j akbar online. I go through ToI RSS feeds everyday. I go through NYtimes RSS feeds everyday. I follow HT/IE/hindu and many others. I only browse across headlines until i find one that interests me. The time taken for me to go through RSS feeds of around 8-10 wire services is just around 10 minutes. Plus there is always some or another keyword i search on google news. That's besides the dozen or so blogs i follow. Im hungry for information. Im not trying to prove that i go through more than others. Just that i can do all that with relative ease, quickness and the reach leaves me more than satisfied.

I have said in the past that ToI, IE etc are mere tabloids. I still stand by those views.

TOI is worth it on the weekends i find. I was told their Crest on a saturday is good too.

You need to add a cpl more newspapers to your list, Uk's daily telegraph and our Pioneer.

Figured As much. Same sentiments are echoed by People preparing for IAS and CAT."Hindu" is the in thing with these people.
Some how every one mentions NY Times and Daily Telegraph but i find if its the World News that you are interested in then there is no better place than Rueters. There are no Smug & Fancy columns though incase thats what pulls you to such papers. After all this is the company that started "World" News

Reuters i would use for financial reporting. There are two aspects here actual news and op-ed's. Ppl tend to gravitate to papers mostly because they want a summary they can understand or perhaps even politically identify with. But this mostly comes from op-ed's which ought to be treated as a sepaerate section from just plain news reporting.
