The Trumps & Elon tweets thread (Had to make this since it's never ending)

We're talking about the US.
Scotch was available in India and until the FTA had an import duty of 150%

Therefore it's not an embargo is it.

And if it was meaningless why announce increase to 245
From 145.
245 is the total including existing tariffs from Trump's first term + tariffs imposed by Biden + whatever to date

So add 100 to whatever figure people are quoting because the figure quoted is only from tariffs imposed in this term subject to further negotiations

The figure comes from adding Trump’s second-term China tariffs of 145% to previously existing levies. In his first term, Trump put 25% tariffs on Chinese EVs, which President Joe Biden increased to 100% last year, when he also imposed a matching tariff on Chinese syringes.
The 245% total does not reflect any new tariffs, then, but just reflects existing maximum charges. The White House “just now decided to add up” the total tariffs, an official said. The vast majority of Chinese goods face lower import taxes—though they are all significantly higher than anything seen in previous decades.

So 245 - 115 is how much ?

Or to be more precise, it is 100 + x where x is whatever they reduced it to now

Diplomatic statement. They did not deny that they won't allow US to mediate.
"That stated policy has not changed. As you are aware, the outstanding matter is the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan," MEA said when asked about Trump's offer.
They are just saying what the issue is according to them. They didn't say US can mediate on this.
This headline is also a bad one. Indian diplomats are saying we just talked to Trump and not Pakistan. Just because there was no meeting of the 3 together, doesn't mean Trump didn't broker it. You can do that by talking to the two parties one at a time.

Any way it's irrelevant to split hairs on this because no one in the global media will hear about this lol. If Modi explicitly took a strong stand against mediation that would have got some traction.

He doesn't have to. Just don't cooperate. What mediation?
We are talking about a sovereign country, not a child trying to disobey its parents. US cannot even be SEEN to be mediating in India-Pak. It should have been immediately corrected strongly. Lack of Indian response suggests Indian government has likely agreed for mediation behind the scenes. Won't be surprised as Modi has always been under the delusion that Trump is his friend. I had already predicted this during the tariff fiasco.

That would not be correct and the presser today clarified it. GOI has decided they will address these issues behind closed doors.

They do have a good equation together.

They do have a good equation totogether.

Both are just doing their "mann ki baat".

Common theme betweent Modi and Trump are - Rally addict, camera obsession, sworn enemy of the press, tag line hoarder.
Last but not the least "social media hustlers".
This is the response I get from my local LLM model. I've to work on my llm tuning.

Nice way of putting it
Common theme betweent Modi and Trump are - Rally addict, camera obsession, sworn enemy of the press, tag line hoarder.
Or what is a populist. Both have a ear to the ground and are products of the time we live in
Last but not the least "social media hustlers".
I support both on this point. Because it gives either a voice and an effective remedy against being taken out of context. It works as a fact check for them

I've always advocated to listen to the man when it comes to Trump. Essential. There is just too much hate around that guy. Modi in comparison doesn't have it as bad but then modi doesn't go to the extent Trump does to hog the limelight. Modi doesn't feel the need to respond to everything if perhaps a time when to.
