Arctic MX2.. its the best value for money. I have been using it for my core 2 quad and now on my Core I7. When it could dissipate the heat really well on core 2 quad, with no doubt it handles the I7 better. You should be happy with Mx2.

It's next to impossible to find Arctic stuff here. I had to import it from the UK. If OP is willing to wait patiently, then ebay UK is the place where this Arctic stuff can be found. Totally VFM.
 
Thanks friends for the replies. I bought coolermaster V1 IC value thermal compound from Ritchie Street Chennai. Not sure if this is a good one, but could not find any other brands there.
