I am really confused between these two coolers which one to buy
The Hyper 212+ Cost abt Rs 1950 and TRUE abt Rs 3400

What is the max OC i can achieve??

and which cooler to buy if i can afford both and is TRUE really worth it and whats ur take on this

Should i choose Cheaper Hyper 212+ or Expensive TRUE

My Config is

Core i7 920 2.66Ghz
EVGA X-58 LE Motherboard
XFX Black Edition 850W Modular
G Skill Tri Channel 6GB 1600MHz
2x Sapphire 5870 in Crossfire Mode
1TB WD Black Caviar
Cooler Master HAF 922

I'd suggest a Noctua U12P SE-2 instead. Quality wise the Noctua is a notch better than the TRU120E. I haven't come across a single Noctua by far which has started flaking. The Hyper 212+ would be the cheapest heatsink which bundles almost every other socket retention kit with it and performs quite well for the price it comes for.

What exactly is your budget? Do you stay close to a coastal area?

I live in delhi

Well i was thinking to keep budget below 2.5k bt if true is really worth it then i can extend teh budget a lil bit

what is the max oc can i achieve with these Coolers on corei7 920

Depends on a whole lot of factors and not just the heatsink - the stepping of the processor (C0 or D0 - the D0 overclocks fairly well and easier with a lower core voltage compared to C0), the ambient temperatures, the motherboard used which would decide the BCLK limit, the sticks of RAM etc. just to mention a few.

What stepping is your processor? I suppose 3.8~4GHz ia a fairly safe bet with the D0 processor these days.

CoGage True Spirit comes within 2.5k and is another good alternative. :)

Great so consider the Cogage True Spirit as well. You may need to invest in a fan or a couple of them though. Read up on it's reviews in the WWW - apollyon a member had put up a review sometime back IIRC. Do check out that as well.

No one can actually commit this for you. Multiple factors are there. Each chip is different from another. You should be able to manage 3.8Ghz quite easily, without having to push a lot of vCore in. What The Desecrator has suggested for coolers makes sense. The Noctua series are good, but expensive.

id say...better to go for a cogage or noctua..

the hyper 212+ is a cheap heatsink and not that good..

its got a very rough base...although the heat pipes come in contact with the proccy...its not at all smooth...a lot of gaps are present...so you end up using a lot of thermal paste..

moreover..the heat pipes corrode easily..

im leaving in noida(NCR)...so the corrosion effect would be the same i guess..

PS: i own a hyper 212+.. using it with the 550BE..

the performance is good..

but for an I7 920...id say...go for a better one..
