Hi all,

I have an old 2nd hand AMD 64 X2 3800+ 939 dual core cpu in idle condition. There are loads of things for me to buy to run this system so I am not using it at this time. I got the CPU with Thermalright XP 120+ aluminium heatsink and a 120MM color led fan. But the seller did not give me rubber strip which grips the cooling fan to the heatsink. Later only he told me that those were lost. Is there any way I can run the CPU without the rubber strip? I heard it causes vibration :S. Please give me some good advice.

Also, any other cheap and best heatsink available in the market which can be fitted on my AMD X2 939? Any good advice will be helpful :).

The absence of those rubber strips aint a big deal IYAM. They certainly reduce the vibration to some extent but it is not as if their absence would cause the heatsink to vibrate. :P

You can either chose to make some small strips out of neoprene yourself or attach the fan without the strips. No harm done.

As gannu sir mentioned, not an issue AFAIK.

If fan is loose or you insist on some dampening, head to a tyre repair shop, get some scraps of tyre tubes and cut some strips.
