Time for an IEM upgrade. Head-Direct REZERO, RE0, or RE262, or Shure SE530?

@Mephisopheles Thank you for your suggestion I have dropped a mail to Pay Pal with my receipt number. Lets hope it works. Hey by the way, you own RE262s right? Are you happy with them?
Out of all the IEMs I've ever owned (although not a great number) RE262 has pleased me the most, it suits the kind of music I listen to. If it had a sufficient amount of sub-bass/low end bass it would have been the perfect IEM for me.

Although it wont suit trance much, as bass is not one of its strong points.

@Faheem

Well lush mids are really important to me since I listen to a lot of folk and indy rock/pop music. Electronic is not the ONLY genre I listen to. Its one of them. You can actually assume that I listen to all kinds of music, and even if I do listen to more electronic these days, music tastes evolve with time and age, and keep changing. From being hardcore into hip-hop to classic rock to country to classical my tastes always change with time, thus, I want an ALL ROUNDER IEM

@meta

Thank you for reiterating. You statement has made me feel more confident about my purchase.

Update from Head-Direct:

I somehow got in touch with them on MSN and they were, surprisingly, very responsive. I told them that they promised to dispatch it and so the Shipping Manager has kept my order on priority basis and if they dont ship it within this week they will refund my money. I swear I sort of despise myself for getting on their backs, but the inner audiophile in me is very very excited :)

Could you ask them once more for the TRS male to TRRS female adapter on MSN?

And, those are my view, such things are quite relative and so YMMV. I think it does Classical rock/rock/country/Alternative music pretty well.

@mephis I checked with them. They said both of the adapters are available but they will charge $15 for shipping. The thing is, the RE262s for $149 includes the price of the cans and shippings. It sort of like a packaged offer.

Update on Order:

Guess my constant pestering did have an effect. Got a mail today saying the RE262s have been shipped! Heres what they said:

"Dear Customer,
Thanks for your payment. Your order was shipped via Special express package from China today. Tracking number is 专线20089838. It will take about 3-4 days to be input into tracking system. Please do not reply this email. If you have any question, please contact head.direct.customerservice@gmail.com ."

Anyone has any idea how many days does shipping from China to India take?

it should reach mumbai in a week's time but customs take their own sweet time to process it. not sure whats that special express means.

Getting it shipped to Delhi but ugh the customs are such a bummer. I've faced too many customs problems already to go through all of it again!

Recently Head-Direct sent my replacement via a private courier and not China Post. The delivery was done by DTDC guy locally and package reached within a week including custom clearance .

Update on the order:

Its been 5 days since my earphones have been dispatched and I havent received them. The status on the website for the package is still 'Operation Centre Arrival'

Can anyone shed some light on what the hell is going on?

Update:

Oh I cant belive my luck! This is the mail Head-Direct sent me:

"we are very sorry that your package was returned back to us for your customs inspect package very strictly, especially for electronic product recently.
we resend one RE262 to you today via TNT, tracking# is 163694876.
we are very sorry for this unestimatable incident which caused the delaying of your order."

I was effin p**sed! So I mailed them back, a nice angry I mail which I wont show :p, and then this is what they reply:

"we are very sorry for it. but we don't know why your customs reject electronic product these couple days. we shipped much electronic product to your country before and don't meet this kind of problem : (

we will include a free gift in your package."

Well, they really did a number on me. Wonder what the free gift is going to be.

Hey, and the Head-Direct website now has FiiO E11 for sale at $65. Any thoughts?

I have items stuck in customs for days - yes! But, returned to the point of origin, that too this quickly? Hmmm... Unless our postal services and customs officials increased their efficiency by 300%, I doubt that. I think they are sending you the 262 only now. Anyways, I wonder what the free gift could be - an extra pair of Hifiman double flanges?

E11 so far has two reviews. Based on what clieOS and Mike of headfonia say, it has enough power to drive even headphones, battery runs for over the stated 10 hours. I think it's the cheapest portable amp available today with this sort of driving power. I guess it could be a good option for pairing with RE262. Wait till you listen to 262. See if you like it first, then think of E11.

Yeah true. Plus, its price at $65, is pretty considerable, not only when comparing to amps in its category, but just generally, as a positive addition to your rig. And I'm sure amps are much longer lasting than IEMs, so maybe the E11 will be good enough till its time for my next IEM upgrade.

About the order, will actually they did give me a tracking number and the status always showed Operations Centre Arrival. I then called the shipping company and they were the ones that told me that the customs department sent it back. That was when I fired my guns at Head-Direct, and they confirmed this fast immediately.

Well, lets hope it reaches me soon this time. Oh and I also have a relative bringing me a Sansa Clip+ 8GB from the States, so lets get my audiophile socks pulled up :D :D

Update:

So well, today I finally received the RE262s!!!! And guess the free gift they promised me?

YES! The free gift is a FiiO E3 amplifier! So I guess my constant pestering and threats to ask for refund did actually work!

So well, I'm taking the RE262s for a spin today. Will come up with some initial thoughts tomorrow. I think it needs some burn in time, what say?

Initial Updates:

After giving some 12+ hours of mid-high volume burn in, yes the sound has opened up a little.

The RE262 soundstage does indeed sound very familiar to my Shure E3Cs. They do handle fast music well, and have a bassline extending to very low levels. I listened to Radiohead's Reckoner from the album In Rainbows and, although I've heard the sound a million number of times, the opening of the song has this really deep bass line which I only heard on the RE262s.

Vocals and upfront and lush. Thom Yorke's voice sounds intimate. I think the way the RE262s reproduce vocals is superb. The vocals are very intimate.

All over, these are my initial impressions. Right now, the RE262s sound very familiar to my Shure e3c, just that they're on steroids.

Note: I seriously think amping is necessary in the RE262s to bring out some juice and some very low deep bass. They sounded good without the amp, but I had to use 90 - 95% volume on the Creative Zen to hit decent decibel levels.

I will give it more burn in time and then will do a full review.

Also, the double flanges dont suit me, anyone knows where I can score Olives for the RE262s? Also, has anyone tried the RE262 mod which is pretty popular at the Head-Fi forum?

Need help asap

I know its been 1 year since you got them but do you recommend me to get them too from Head Direct ?
Also I want to buy a portable amp/dac which would provide juice to my headphones + increase their quality.
Any suggestions ?
Fiio e7 ?
