I’ve been using this trick for a while, so I thought of sharing it with you. Did you know you can temporarily turn off WhatsApp on your phone? Just follow these steps:
  1. Open the WhatsApp app on your phone.
  2. Tap the three dots (...) in the top-right corner, then select Settings.
  3. Navigate to Storage and Data.
  4. Tap on Proxy.
  5. Enter any random proxy address, for example, 123.123.123.123, and save it.
  6. Enable the Use Proxy option.
  7. To Re-enable the WhatsApp just turn off Use Proxy button.
That’s it! Now you can enjoy browsing the internet without being interrupted by WhatsApp messages. I hope you find this tip helpful!

I couldn't find this option on my Poco F5 with HyperOS, so it might be a stock Android or non hyperOS thing. I previously used the "Force stop" option on my previous phones and that always worked, until you clicked on the "Share" option anywhere, and it enabled WhatsApp again. However, "Force stop" doesn't work on my phone for an extended period now, and it's funny, considering Xiaomi/Poco used to be notorious for disabling apps in the background, and now they choose to turn a stopped app on.

However, I found a different option that works for my phone. There's an option of "Connection Method" in App Info/settings, which has the option of wi-fi and mobile data. Disabling both of these seems to stop internet access altogether for the app. I'll give it a shot for a longer period later, but it seems to be working fine as of now.

I by default always mute WA messages and notifications are off for the app. No noise from phone. Only con is when I open WA after few hours and see 20-30+ unread messages. o_O
