Tips while posting or in giving a reply on TE

Hello friends,

I've seen some things which are not able to understand directly. For example the "+" in the prefix of a name.

It was for telling us that the person who is having a "+" symbol in the prefix is in your friends list.
Not sure about that. If wrong someone can tell us what exactly it is.

There might be some other people who don't know how to use and identify some specific things like the ones mentioned below.

So i request you all to post what you know. So that i will update the things you posted in this original post.
Not all might be correct, so i suggest you to mention us if anything is wrong below.


Suggested tips and suggested by :

"+" in suffix means, the person is in your friend's list --> raksrules
you can mention someone by adding '@' as a prefix and the desired user name --> Pranav.Falcon
In "TE Ideal" theme, it is the star symbol at the same place for giving reputation --> raksrules
In "TE Default" theme, it is the eye symbol at the same place for giving reputation --> Pranav.Falcon
For hyperlink enter some text in the quick reply area and select it. Then click on the green globe with white link. A pop appears in which you need to enter the link of your choice. For example HOME PAGE --> raksrules
For spoilers
[SPOILER = 111]This is spoiler Text[/SPOILER]​
--> raksrules .

If you are confused with the automatically applied theme, currently there are 4 skins on TE, which can be accessed through the dropdown at the bottom left. --> Renegade

I have no idea about the '+' symbol, but you can mention someone by adding '@' as a prefix and the desired user name.
You can add to the users reputation bu clicking the small 'eye' like symbol on the lower left corner, on the same line where 'Reply' and 'Reply with quote is present'.
 
Someone post how to add links with custom names (OR) any other features like adding a spoiler (OR) ways to publish executable HTML code etc.,

CLICK ME TO GO TO TE homepage : To get this, write whatever text you want, copy a URL you want the text to point to and come back to the quick reply /advanced reply window on TE, select the text (in this case CLICK ME TO GO TO TE homepage, click the green globe sign with a white link (not the one with red cross) and a popup will come, paste the destination URL and you get the hyperlink with custom text.
 
I think some moderators should make this thread sticky and add all their valuable suggestions and tips to this to help the newbies.:)

This is spoiler Text

The usual tags do work but you need some sort of additional text (like in this case =111), some random thing like =XXXXX after the SPOILER word to make it work. Don't know why.
So it should essentially look like...with NO SPACES in and around the =, ignore the space below, it is for representation.

We can always make this a sticky provided we are able to detail it out.

Something has been asked multiple times (even though not related to the subject of this thread): Currently there are 4 skins on TE, which can be accessed through the dropdown at the bottom left.
