TISSOT WATCH FROM EBAY.IN

^No need to do silly things like that. These days they insist that if an item is damaged in transit not to accept it from the courier. Since you have the original watch you can easily post comparison photos which will show the difference. You can also call up ebay customer care now itself asking their policies on fake / duplicate items.

Won't help. Ebay won't see photos to compare. And even different watches in the same series/range can theoriticaly be a bit different, that is what Ebay will probably say even if they see the photos. Won't help, that is why you shouldn't be that greedy, especially when it comes to watches.

A watch is a status symbol, if you can't afford it at the going street price, you shouldn't buy it. Hardware I understand getting for less because it is a thing of utility and not show off.

But any expensive watch is more often that not a show off thing and there is no point showing off something you can't genuinely afford.

If you can buy a 5k watch comfortably, go for one, whether online or within India, if you have 50k to burn, go ahead. But don't try to get stuff at half rate or something unless it is from a store like Macy's or something where you know it is just old stock.

Just ask the courier guy to return the parcel and ask him to mark as door locked or whatever.

Then you can claim your money back from ebay on the grounds of item not delivered.

(only one problem is, seller may contact you and will tell that he will ship the item again. You can tell him that you are not in station now)

I don't think the seller would be on TE. Quite a bleak chance since TE has just several thousand members compared to Ebay, not every Ebay seller is a TE member, that population especially of fraudsters would be really small.

Possible, but unlikely, and won't help anyway.

I guess, this sounds good. I will not accept the courier all together. And ask the courier fellow to take it back.. Will claim from eBay saying that I didn't receive the stuff..

I just said that possibly the dealer could be on TE or some of his contacts , in effect what I was trying to tell the guy is dont do something stupid but felt it would sound offensive ! . So , just wrote in short .

Being on ebay for a long time, it's best if u refuse courier.. Just say person not available.. eBay guarantee takes a month to get results and it depends on the claim adjucator, what kind of a guy he is . Also, some power sellers have excellent clout on eBay and eBay makes all efforts to refuse claims against them. So best to refuse delivery saying person not available....

Tissot showrooms won't give you in writing, they might even confiscate it.

Wait, the showroom might confiscate the watch if it is a fake? Seriously?

Break it upon arrival. Tell the seller you received it broken and return it.

Not a good idea. Will complicate things unnecessarily.

You can visit an authorised Tissot dealer to confirm if the watch is a fake (given the huge difference in the retail pricing, it could very well be one) and give a detailed explanation to eBay with the required snaps, box shots etc. Freaky also mentions that every Tissot comes with International warranty. You can contact Tissot's customer service online with the snaps and convey the message to them. Forward their response to eBay as well. It is likely that eBay will support the buyer over the dealer.

Drop a message to the dealer in advance that you are a bit skeptical about the price difference and should the watch turn out to be a fake, you will contact eBay and pass him a negative feedback.

The rule in USA is to confiscate and burn fake stuff. I don't know what they might do in India, probably nothing I guess

If someone tried to confiscate a fake in India, the customer would slap the shop keepers and walk of smiling.

That's a lot .. everyone... so the final verdict is to take the watch (from the courier fellow) and later prove it and fight back with the seller /eBay for it being fake..

Well even I want to do that .. Really want to see how close they get it making these replicas.. as I have an original tissot (same make and model),it should not be a very difficult job. I have already written to the seller and ebay, that I am very skeptical about the pricing of the watch and as the seller had clearly mentioned it to be an original one, if it turns out to be fake,I shall be returning it... I know that I am blowing 6k, for no reason.

Let's see how this shapes out.

Will keep you all posted, of the pics .. this evening.

Thanks for support

Cheers

ebay clearly states:

If you receive a fake or counterfeit product, you should contact us to file an eBay claim. We'll work with you and the seller to make sure that you receive either a replacement item or refund. In order to take action against the seller, eBay may request you to provide proof which indicates the item received was fake or counterfeit.

You can file a claim by contacting us:

- File a PaisaPay Item Not Received /Significantly Not As Described request if the PaisaPay timeline is still open

- Contact customer support and file a claim

- Use the eBay Guarantee* link (http://www.ebaycourt.com/eBayguarantee) to file a claim.

- Use the Resolution Centre link to file a claim

for you to provide proof it is fake, you would need support of Tissot to provide you a written acknowledgement that you have a fake product.

you should check with the company or some branded shop that sell tissot watches if company will help you in this case if its a fake.

my best understanding is the company will not help you or you will have to run pillar to post or get some inside contact in Tissot to be able to proof to claim fake and get money back.

my opinion - dont accept the courier but if you like to take risks and willing to spend time, money and effort for the refund if fake, then accept the courier.

i would suggest you to open the package infront of the courier guy and check for the genuineness.. if its not genuine u could take photos in front of him and get some signatures also maybe to prove that you received a fake one..
