just saw sumthin....after 1 torrent finished , i had left it for seeding......the speeds initially wer 10-14kbps..after 10 mins, they jumped up to 800kbps.....i tried a download alongside, but still got crappy speeds....maybe sumtimes these connections get thru...:(
 
It seems that your ISP is blocking Rapidhsare and Torrents but is facing some downtimes in this blocker which allows you to have peak speed!
 
Its just the matter of configuring torrent client i guess....

Even i am looking for optimum config for Utorrent...i often get avg speeds of 220 during torrents..but 240 with RS
 
There definitely some problem with your U torrent settings .

torrents speeds also depend on the kind of seeds you are connected to,the number of seeds and the number of leechers .

You may get low speeds under the following scenario.

1.> You are downloading a torrent which has 700 seeds and 1982 leechers .Then still you will get a low speeds because the seeder to leech is less.

2.> You are downloading a torrent which has 700 seeds and 2 leechers.

Here also you may get low dl speeds because the seeders or leechers you are connected have 256 kps connection. this will be a bottle neck for your 2mbps

connection .

3.> Also if the peice required is already present in the leecher group ,then it is

not requested from the seed .Only new peices are requested from the seeder

group . .That is why many people with high speeds reduce their download

speeds to get a better ratio .

The best way you can test is by downloading a file from torrent leech .Most

of the guys there have 2mbps + connection .so your connection must be

bottle neck for them . :P

Anything you guys tell lol.. obviously his ISP is only limiting the speed, albeit with some very crappy program that gets screwed in between for a bit.. I doubt he has to configure uTorrent and all again and shit..
 
well sort of solved the RS problem , all i have to do is pause and restart the file a couple of times and the file starts using the full bandwidth and downloads properly at arnd 700-800kbps minimum......but still nuthing from torrents.....
 
hmm..regarding your problem.. i think its only a matter of some settings..or some problem with u r ISP..try changing the max global connections..and connections to keep per task..

also do not limit the upload speed as it affects download speed too..!

OTcan u give more info on 5 net..

congrats on moving away from sify(havent seen u on DC for a long time)..maybe thats due to change of ISP..

just wanted to knowif 5 net is there in nerul..and whats the tariff \plans like...

ive heard that SSV handles 5net..and is on the same line of SIFY ?..is it true..hows the service ?
 
actually i m still on DC , but only on weekends coz dats the only time m home , its on the same LAN as sify , but only a dial-up is added......so i get faster net , + DC ........a neat combo....and faheem dude, sorry cudnt reply for the thing u wanted yaar......m really busy with xams and freshers nd all coming up.......will do so in a day or 2
 
Well , is there any way to encrypt the torrent connection manually ? Coz i think if i can do make the encryption strong , the speeds might increase.
 
dude phoenix...i think we can try http tunneling..our situation is pretty similar to a guy having his ports blocked ..but the same thing works through tunneling and socks proxy..

But i dont have any working experience regarding socks and proxy..maybe someone in the forums can enlighten us regarding that !
 
hmmm.....dunno , but worth a try.....the problem is we have no clue how they are monitoring the connection type , coz they told me that they have placed rs.com also in the limited bandwidth list coz otherwise it will choke them up.....hmmm....but that limits everything as such. so any ideas on how they are blocking and any ways to bypass it ? also can someone guide us thru tunneling sucessfully ?

Edit :- This is greek for me man !! See if you have some luck ? BTW i think you need to sheel out 1 $ for the shell a/c ..I could be wrong though.. I was just skimming through the document..
