Got it for 5086 with coupon. :D
Read some reviews on new egg and amazon of drive going bad after few weeks. Some have managed to open up case and use the drive as internal hdd for months too. Maybe case has heating problems.

Can you provide me links for the same?
 
 
If it works properly and the case gets hot, I will most probably make it internal. Will need to think of how not to break tabs in plastic cover while removing it.

@Superbad, on Toshiba site they have mentioned warranty as 3 years.

BTW, Who's giving warranty here? is it Accel frontline?

the listing though mentions it as 2 years.

even when the listing was made earlier for the same price by croma retail, they did not mention the warranty.

this time around , they mention it as 2 years. so there is some confusion there.

the only way to confirm is by checking the warranty status of the drive online when you get one.

Toshiba has service center in Delhi I think. Accel may not be their service partner. We may have to ship the unit to Delhi then.

Toshiba site mentions that warranty certificate is saved on drive itself.
If I get the drive by Tuesday I can update the actual warranty period here to remove any confusion.
 
since the seller is CROMA, I guess we can drop it off at croma ( for them to manage repairs) with a copy of the bill as well?
 
I think I made mistake by buying from this cromaretail seller. Was seeing negative feed backs on eBay and many said that seller ships items very late or does not even ship item. Others said no invoice was given to them.

Seller hasn't even bothered replying to my question. I bought it on 19th and it hasn't been shipped yet. Lousy seller won't ship it I guess. My money locked for a week now. :(

If this is croma's attitude during selling, I bet they won't take any returns of failed hdd. :|
 
Not shipped yet and croma does not even reply to messages sent from my eBay account.
Will definitely put negative rating & 1 star rating in all fields, since zero is not available.
Croma is the worst seller on eBay. Everyone should avoid them. :mad:

I mean to give -ve rating if I don't get the hdd within the stipulated time.
Looking at the sellers behaviour it looks like they won't ship at all. Else how could you explain Mumbai seller not despatching item to Mumbai address even after 4 days (not counting Sunday)?

Unless it's a pricing error or stock issue, cromaretail delivers quick, I got my Canvas HD in less than 24 hours.

I asked that particular question because I know of some people who leave a negative/neutral feedback just because the seller shipped it a bit late, but within the timeline.
 
Even if its a pricing error or stock issue, the least they can do is update the listing to mention it out of stock. When I bought it, 10 were available and only 3 people had bought it. They didn't send any message about item being oos or price hike in item. They are like a brick wall. Just no response.

Come to think of it, I clicked on the hdd link from eBay's mailer which said deals from croma. And that mailer came for atleast 2-3 weeks.
Cant be pricing error, unless its a deliberate attempt to mislead people to croma store in false hope of getting hdd.
