^ 750 should fetch you a heavy c2d with a decent GPU and ddr3.
AFAIK, toshiba has one year global warranty.

toshiba laptops are excellent and solidly built.
BUT
a tiny warning here ::: toshiba is serviced by hcl in india and hcl offers the worst service in india. remember if ur laptop goes in for a service it would take u atleast 2 months b3fore you get it back. a friend from office had a toshiba equium he got from UK and it spent 85 days for a motherboard replacement and when it came back it had been severely scratched on the screen.
go for asus or dell.
if you want, i will post pictures of the condition the toshiba was in wfhen it came back from hcl .

I got a gaming Laptop from Toshiba .. HCL are such b..tards that they were asking 35K to service the laptop .. The Service here sucks .. stay away from Toshiba

Which ever laptop you buy, do remember to go for Core ix series processors and DDR3 memory. core2duo is stale now and core ix are much better in power consumption and produce less heat.
Toshiba India support : Unless you get an international warranty, you will be f'ed upside down in case you face issues. And in many cases, you will hear things like, this model not in India so we have to import parts from USA and you will be charged an arm extra.

@Sunny 27 ,Toshiba service is not as bad as u told me.I have a Toshiba A305 purchased in the US.It had some heating problem,i had given to HCL for repair they were not bad at all.I was a bit afraid while giving it to them but then they fixed the lappy and gave it back to me in less than 24 hrs.The service was good.Toshiba Laptop's have a very good build quality.
^ build quality of toshiba is beyond doubt good. However, the hcl tie up for service could have issues.
IMO, try to go for asus. They are a great bang for their buck. and they have 2 year global warranty.

you must be very lucky for that .. the HCL service in Delhi sucks bigtime .. I have heard myself of many horror stories and even ecountered it a few times .. They took my laptop for one month and then said that it would require a motherboard change for 35K to correct flickers on the screen ..Metalspree said:

yes. you should be lucky enough that the problem doesn't need h/w replacement and if it needs h/w replacement, you should be lucky enough for that h/w to be available in India.

as i write this from my office - my friend has a new dilemma now - the laptop screen began showing distortion in images and then it showed a red tinge to the right side of the screen -- on restarting the laptop and connecting it to the power adapter the display blew up and the screen went blank windows starts up and we can hear the startup tone and on connecting it to the lcd using the vga out it works. so its another trip to the cheerful guys at hcl for my friend!!! poor guy curses more than he works.
quick update on my friend's toshiba--apparently toshiba india AKA HCLcan't service this model bcoz it wasnt released here and so the parts required would have to be imported which means my friend will have to shell out extra for the laptop parts now--ie display and some stuff on the motherboard--hcl havent specified what parts--they said they would mail the quotation by monday morning to him.
its an amazing brand but hcl service just stabbed it!
