Hello people :) Previously there was a thread posted by Espeez and now its me who needs help, so i thought of posting a new one to avoid confusion. I will be soon picking up a 42" Full HD LCD and wanted to know from all of you as to which one to go for.
Sharp Aquos LC-42G7M and Toshiba Regza 42WL68 are the best Full HD 42 inchers in the indian market. Both these screens have almost everything in common as far as specs are concerned but i read this one thing about the Toshiba WL68 series having a 100Hz display technology and i am not sure if this feature is there in the Sharp Aquos. Price for both are kind of similar but what really matters is the performace to me. So please help me guide to pick the best from these two.:)

What is this 100hz? IS it like refresh rate, because youre not gonna notice a diff between 60fps in the Sharp and 100fps in the Toshiba! And AFAIK, the sharp is considerably cheaper, so my vote goes to the Sharp!

hmmm. It am not sure what it is but in LCD HDTV the higher the hz the better it is.

^ That's the panel refresh rate, and yes for the same resolution (I presume both are 1920x1080), the higher the refresh rate, lesser the viewing strain.

I've never seen a Tosh LCD, so my vote naturally goes for the Aquos, which is a stunning display!

Btw, how much is it (grey/official) ?

The official price for Aquos is 1.30lkhs, grey is 1.10 and Toshiba grey 1.15 .Officially its not available in stock yet. But even the cnetasia editor and reviewer Philip Wong has recommended the Toshiba 42WL68 in the Top 5 42 inchers LCD. Both are 1080p. So what should i do now? Which is the superior one among the both?

^ Read more reviews possibly try to demo both sets. Your eyes are the best judge heh ;)

To find these on Showroom display its impossible. Only the Sharp is there in Vijay Sales Prabhadevi branch but the F_ CKED up rainz are not letting me go anywhere far away from my house.

Samsung 40M86 is 1.4l official.. not worth it in comparison, but the black levels on that thing are insane.. need to be seen to be believed!

Well it looks like you have added more weight to my confusion ;) in a good way rather but tell me one thing, is this model available over here by the exact model number that you have mentioned or is it something else coz normally the UK and US have different model numbers for the same products.
Another thing that got to my attention in the samsung was the 3 HDMI 1.3 ports that might be helpful for my PS3 gaming, as it supports HDMI 1.3 which is hard to find in any brands apart from samsung atleast in India. I would really appreciate if you can tell me more 40-42 inches Full HD LCDs with 1.3 HDMI ports
Even if they are available in grey then i will buy it :ohyeah: Please do this litle homework for me bro :thanx:

It's called the Mosel Blaque in India. Model: LA40M81B.
Seriously, go check out the Samsung India website:

where is grey market in mumbai for lcd tv ??? u mean herra panna ???????:S

I know some people who deal in this. By the way, i went to Vijay sales today to the main Prabhadevi branch which is a pain to travel sooooo far from Andheri. (Mumbai)
I had taken my PS3 all the way over there to test it on the Sharp Aquos G7M but they had the huge 52" which was no use for me.
I some how got to try it on the Sony Bravia KLV-40X200A but dint have the HDMI cable so got to play it with 720p and 1080i using the component cables. It was GOOD, by saying GOOD i mean awesome experience but was let down by slight blurry images or you can say ghosting. And when i asked the guy about how can one calibrate LCDs with perfection, that fool started talking all sorts of things about assembling the models and i and a friend of mine couldn't control our laughter.
Bottom line is these Fools dont know any thing about LCD tech and what a waste it was for me to go there. :@ India really needs to grow in this area
There is one dealer here who is arranging for me a Toshiba 42WL68 for 1.46 lkhs with 1 year warranty which will be shipped from noida and there is another dude who has offered me 1.15lkhs for grey. SO what u guys think? SHould i go for it?

LOL yeah the guy @ vijay sales sucked. When we asked him that do they ever calibrate the lcds once they come to the showroom, he was like no sirji none of the lcds are assembled in india, all of them are imported  .

I just couldnt control my laughter, and even for connecting the ps3 to the lcd for checking out any ghosting issues etc they took 20 mins to take approval from their 'manager' to connect it. Its not like we were attaching some nuclear bomb to blow up their showroom :S

Ok, now this is going to sound weird but this is what it is. I just discovered a rather shocking thing that i dint notice before. On one of the forums a guy mentioned the specs of the Toshiba 42WL68 and that screen does not support 1080p FULL HD:@ . I then re checked on the Indian toshiba site and there it says HD ready (1080p/1080i) WXGA Panel (1366 x 768) TOSHIBA INDIA - LCD TV
NOW HOW THE _ _ C K can a screen support 1080p when the actual screen res is (1366 x 768) ??????????????????????
All this time i was under the impression that this LCD was Full HD. I wrote an email to Those fools telling them to change the damn INFO as it was very misleading. DAMnnnnnnn :@
Another funny incident happened at Sony Mony electronic shop next to my house. My friend asked a sales guy about an LCD "what is this ASPECT RATIO?" as in what does it mean.
Guess the hilarious answer that guy told.........
He said "thats how the LCDs are EXPECTED TO BE"
HAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHA A A A AHAHAHHAH AAH AH AH AH HAHA H AH HA AH HA HH . THE MOST FUNNIEST SH_T I HAVE EVER HEAREDDDDDDDDDDD:rofl:

I think i will just wait for some real worthy LCD to come in the near future.

^ The only 1920x1080 LCD I've seen selling < 1.5L is the Samsung FHD Mosel 40"

Not sure about the Aquos model cause I haven't seen the specs.
