I got a 4 yr old Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop from my Uncle.. Free of cost Ofcourse. I left it on last week and it went into Hibernation Mode.
The Problem is when i Switch it On, its not coming out of Hibernation mode. I removed the BAttery and tried but still its not working.
Any Clues??

Maybe the battery is totally discharged. So fully charge it and tell what happens?? Also what do u mean by not coming out of hibernation ?? Does the power light glow ??? What about HDD lights ??

The Battery of this LAptop works only for 30 mins.. Power Light is On but not the HDD light.
In Satellite Pro Laptops when the Laptop is not used for sometime they go in hibernation mode. In Hibernation mode, the screen will go off to save power. When you press any key you will see a Progressbar with a moon sign on Left End and sun sign on Right end. The ProgressBAr will move from the Moon End and reach the Sun End. After it reaches the Sun end the Laptop will start and you will see the screen where u left.
But in my case The BAr reaches the SUN mark but hangs there. The battery Is charged and PowerSupply is also on.

Your OS is probably corrupt. I say when nothing works, try a re-install ;)

Would be useful as well to ask him when was the last time he used the laptop and whether it was working fine?

Eddy, I am ready to re-install, but it has to come out of hibernation for that.. you cant do it without that... It was working perfectly untill last saturday when i left it on and went out. When i came back it was not coming out of hibernation..

^^^ It need not... You take out the battery and then start the lappy on AC Power...

At least it shows the Bios Screen or not ??? Otherwise this is a serious bug in Toshiba Laptops.... And hibernation is a OS problem so atleast u should get the Bios screen... Then take a bootable CD and get going... :)

Google for it anyways.....i am sure u will get good solutions....

No Josh it will not show you the bios screen... Last time this thing happened was when this lappy was with my Uncle.. he got it serviced by HCL from where he purchased this lappy.. Right now this lappy is not under AMC .. and i dont want to pay 3K to HCL to get it rectified..

I will rather use it as a pilllow. :)

A bootable CD should work even if its in Hibernation mode. BTW, do you have access to the CMOS battery? You could try removing it to clear the CMOS.

I already tried using a bootable CD in Hibernation mode .. it didnt work.

I will check the CMOS battery thing .. Thanks.
