My computer just hangs, and then restarts.

I've checked my hardware.

Formatted the disks and reinstalled windows ...

Still screwd up ...

Desperately need help ..

control panel / system / advanced / startup and recovery / here untick Auto Restart - this may do the trick for you.

when u say...."checked your hardwarre" what does that mean.....

please be more specific so we can help you.

and where does it hang....after loading windows? right before????

.....Also .... start in safe mode and see if problem persists .... if no problems in safe mode... than it may be due to a driver problem or corrupted file.

This can also happen if the electric supply is not steady - like if computer is on same line as an A/C or Frig - anything which puts a heavy load on the line by a compressor starting up and then there will be a heavy load and a drop in voltage to computer and ....*POOF*..... not enough juice for Computer .... momentary shutdown and a restart.

Did you try the disabling of the "Auto Restart" ?

Plz don't ask for Tech Support w/o mentioning your config in detail. Also give us an idea of the temperature around cabinet..

...hmmm

with the info u gave me....i can think of hundreds of problems causing the restarts.

could be the psu, ram, cpu overheating/failure, chipset problem, DIMM slot problems, etc.....

lol...ur not helping urself dude. and if you come to a forum where people are willing to try and help you, you shoud be ready to help then help you!

dont be a friggin *(&*&$((

NOW you mention that ... I thought you had problems with a new HDD :)

If problem with old HDD then check for errors on HDD - I use FREEWARE Diskcheckup - download from www.passmark.com.

Hmm Eazy..... Arent "most" PSUs rated starting from 90V all the way upto 260V. So even if there is a brownout (drop of voltage), it shouldnt cause any issues with the actual Output rails of the PSU. IMHO.

I mentioned this as I saw this happen some years back in someones place in Delhi - everytime his A/C's compressor came on the computer would reboot - it was low grade wiring that was causing this - the wires could not handle the load put on it. Finally the A/C was put on a different phase and the house wiring was redone and the problem was gone. Is there not a min amount of time when the line is disconnected before the computer goes off/reboots ? I read somewhere the cut of point is 3ms. I think these were momentary blackouts and not brownouts - I may be wrong

Will post my disk check results in a while ...

But the only freakin problem is that i can't work on that friggin comp for more than 5 mins ..

can u give a smwhat brief info tht wht precisly happens.

All the startup items load up and then ur pc just hangs kind of thing ??

You are extremely wrong in ur judgement. A moderate to severe browunout will instantaneusly reboot the m/c.
