I mentioned this as I saw this happen some years back in someones place in Delhi - everytime his A/C's compressor came on the computer would reboot - it was low grade wiring that was causing this - the wires could not handle the load put on it. Finally the A/C was put on a different phase and the house wiring was redone and the problem was gone. Is there not a min amount of time when the line is disconnected before the computer goes off/reboots ? I read somewhere the cut of point is 3ms. I think these were momentary blackouts and not brownouts - I may be wrong

Besides the voltage fluctuations ....i have seen and expirienced an electronic speed regulator for ceiling fan
causung the m/c to reboot. i think this could be due to the high frequency pulse generated and subsequently transmitted by the electronic regulator IC / Transistor to the mains line.....

ok, heres how you can first figure out what component is failing.

Get Memtest.. run for a long period of time

get seagate seatools and do every test to check if its the hdd

then buy a DMM to check the rails on your psu. They could be very low...that would cause restarting

and if you can get into windows try P95 CPU test to check if its that.

good luck
