One hell'va car ! Considering the Price .

I am saving for my Audi A4 .

If i spend Rs 6lacs on Etios now , my plans to buy A4 by next year will get deferred to 2012 then :P

To be honest if you really can look carefully, the car is below par.

Once examined closely, the Etios is not holding the candle to Dzire from Maruti. The seat hasnt got an adjustable head rest, and the seat frame has got just enuf meat to call it a full fledged car seat. Totally Downsized.

Engine looked like a 'chaupatty'.. everything fitted inside due to some heavy booze nite before.

For crying out loud the car has a single wiper! And we are talking about front.

As for interiors, crayon finish. Colors and the moulding looks like from Toy Story 4. (Esp Take a look at Driver's right side panel, near and south of ignition). The arm rest is like more from the Lotus/Neel Kamal plastic chair.

The front seat still keep reminding me the henchmen of Floop from Spy Kids 2. The 'hand' men.

Sorry for being a bit harsh and esp to people who are actually considering but this is only above the Linea and Manza. Dzire would be much better choice. This Etios will only brag abt good FE and Toyota Brand + A.S.S.

I would rather purchase a Toyota emblem and stick on a Dzire with glee.

Pricing (Del/NCR) :

Four variants:

J - Rs. 4,96,000

G - Rs. 5,46,000

V - Rs. 6,41,100

VX - Rs. 6,86,000

a sedan for 5 lakhs without power steering...who will buy the base version???

BTW in delhi if you book today you will get delivery in june :P

What the obsession with sedans. I'd rather buy a more powerful , better interior hatchback in the same price.

It will be a good success with taxi providers and services. Normally they drive lower end models without power steering. So i am sure they will get good deals from private operators on this model.

If you check out the photos of this car on Team-BHP, you will see that the interior quality looks severely compromised. Japanese brands are known only for reliability and never for Value For Money.

Between Honda and Toyota, Honda offers more VFM(if you can call it that). Toyota is just too expensive and provides good interior quality BUT at a very high price. For eg: An MUV like the Innova has D segment pricing.

Toyota has launched vehicles with boring designs for India but despite that, they have been able to achieve sales due to the fact (and in some cases, perception) that their vehicles are reliable. But the Etios is downright ugly from the back and the front isn't exactly good either. Whether the Indian market will accept ugly just for the Toyota badge remains to be seen.

I don't think spare part costs for the Etios are going to be cheap as compared to Maruti. Also If they do managed to provide cheap service, one should not expect the kind of customer focused servicing Toyota currently offers to their customers as all their current customers are generally high end customers who have paid a significant premium for a Toyota vehicle. They will simply not be in a position to do that with the mass market (that is assuming they achieve mass market adoption).

Etios will definitely be a success.

as its a toyota, #1, its going to be easily 90% more reliable than its competition :P - Indigo, Dzire...
#2. Safety standards will be higher
#3. Taxi service companies would have already started think how many Etios to buy :P

all this, thanks to Qualis & Innova.

In last months' Autocar magazine, it is mentioned that Innova's higher cost was due its global design process.

Its engine is designed to work at even -30 degree celcius, - a temperature range India doesnt have.

more similar things like that add up to the price of Innova.

Nobody cares if it's more expensive due to a 'global design process' :P Innova still sells so doesnt matter.

As for the Etios, it should do reasonable well. Another typical toyota which will get the job done. People complaining about this being a boring car should look at Toyota's entire product line up :P This is what they do, bring no nonsense cars which work without complaints and that is why they sell.

when's the diesel version is launching??? and wat may be the price of the car in diesel???
last quarter - 2011. no news on the price.

Personally I dont like the looks of etios. But toyota surely have priced it right (unlike the mistake honda made with jazz) . I see this car being a hit . It offers good VFM .:)

what do you mean here ... u mean to say other car's engine won't run at 30 deg cel .
also is this the temp is engines temp or atmospheric temp ??.

for instance chennai has highest recorded temp of 45deg cel.. in summer it would be atlest more than 35 deg...

so cars won't run during summer..

oops! that's the minus :thumb: .my mistake and apologies. no harm intended ,peace  .
