i lost my mobile nokia5320 .. is there any way police can track the mobile using IMEI no?? i have filed FIR... now 2 moro i will go to SP office and give the IMEI no. . .but will it help???
they can deactivate it if someone else uses it. as far as tracking goes, i donot know. After you file the FIR, you can give the IMEI number to your service operator, and if that handset is being used, they can do whatever is in their power.
Service provider can tack the imei no. but they do so only on directives from police.
You can probably get the imei no. deactivated but as for as tracking it goes, nothing will happen unless you got some jack with either the police or the service provider.
i had lost my cell no use with imei had filed FIR too but police say they wont be able to do anythg and its happens only outside in india it seems wtf ....so hard luck ..
And u took the word of our Cyber Savy police..?
1) File an FIR
2) Get Photocopies of it done.
3) Write An application regarding the tracking of IMEI numbered fone
3) File the application+ photocopy of FIR to ur service provider.. and MENTION beneath the subject that u r submitting the copy of the same to (some higher authority)
4) Keep a track of the development.
Its ur money which ll go down the drain.. do not take the word of the police.
They are mostly uneducated lot.
Police can track via imei number..but they need to b shown some bait for same like 20% now 80 on work done.....thats the way my frnd got his nokia n95 after about a year frm getting flicked.....
