Transcend MP850 - Worth buying?

Colleague Needs to pick up a smallish MP3 player ASAP.

Must haves Small size, decent battery life, ability to view playlists
good to have Video playback, standard USB port

The Transcend T650 and MP850 are available for a sweet price, but AFAIK, the T650 does not support playlist viewing
Any suggestions?
 
Your must haves are easily filled by Sandisk Sansa Clip.

In good to have's you don't get video playback. Mini USB connection is there in the player for charging and connecting to the PC.
 
Also check out philips one at croma, my friend got it around 2 months back. 2 gb for 2300. It's very small and compact and allows playlists. If you can still get one of refurb sansa e260's from KMD, they are best vfm you can ever get :D
 
Last time i checked out transcends they had quite bad sound quality, if you can pair them with ep-630 or another good headset they would sound great :) .
 
got the MP850

Great screen, good SQ (though shitty bundled plugs)

8Gigs for 3300, fairly good VFM I guess

The price of 3.3 K was for a boxed pack with regular Transcend warranty

I am guessing we cld have got a marginally better price by going to ritchie, but the trip wasn't worth the headache (this was bought from my neighborhood electronnic store)
 
Got this lil matchbox size player Yesterday (8gig one) for 3100 from a local dealer....

I was not expecting much as it is quite well priced .....but the looks are

1) Cute enough for ur peers to take notice...( 4gb is available in White but black looks classier)

2) Bundled earphones are nt good enuf....but with Sony ones...it sounded better than Ipod Shuffle.

3) FM reception is clear with 20 presets

4) Voice Recording is crisp and filters human voice rather than every noise decibel in the B/G.

6) The display is clear even in bright sunlight (this is missing even in Sony walkman player)

7) Haven't tried Video and Txt file reader. ( wouldnt make sense to watch video on this small screen anyway)

8) Song management is easy as u can browse songs in the player in the folder wise manner ( so make different folders as per genres and copy them in the player)

Hav tried this much so far...and it serves my purpose well....so much so that IPOD nano wud'nt match in features. and for me looks do not kill. ;)
