So which will be the best tool to cut the metal of the side panel with smooth edges ? Also what material do I use for the transparent side panel, glass, transparent plastic ??

And where do I get the stuff from ....  ???

Anyone ordered from www.frozencpu.com and is it worth paying the shipping ??

Looking forward for your responses..........

For cutting metal, I believe the neatest tool is a Dremel - though i'm no expert on tools, wait for other comments on this.
There are guys locally who deal with cutting metal and stuff, and this will work out the cheapest. One thing, though the cut will be neat and precise.. the finish may not. But you could always work on the finish yourself by just filing it / sand-papering it.

For the transparent side panel - use Acrylic. This too is available here easily.

yeah eddy is right....but if u dont want to cut the side plate urself...get it done by a local black smith.....though the finish wont be very good like eddy said...

FOr side panel...get Transparent acrylic sheet..

i made a side panel in my al cheapo Iball cabby and i got the side panel cut from a professional shop ..... they also use laser to cut that ..... if u can get it cut with laser it will be the best and good finishing ..... and then get the acrylic .....

Thanks guys.....

@Rahul

Professional shop....what kind of shop ???? the ones who make iron furniture   and how much does it cost ?

I'm also thinking about cutting the side with a hacksaw blade..:ohyeah: :ohyeah: (desi style) anyone tried with that ??

Any local tools available here like the Dremel ?

And where do I get the acrylic sheets, in a hardware shop or glass shop ?

^^ don't do it with hacksaw blade ..... u will bend the side panel and also finishing will be very bad .... go to some car repairing shop they will also do it ....

Thanks rahul.....and where do i get the acrylic sheets ?

To attach the acrylic sheet, I guess we can use small nut&bolt.

i got the acrylic sheet here from a hardware shop (they mainly deal in acrylic) ..... and i used double sided tape to stick the windows and even after 1 years its still going good .... :)

You can get the acrylic in most of the glass shops, it will cost you around 100 bucks.

Btw Rahul what do you mean by profssional shop?????

be ready for some paint damage even if you get it cut by machine or hacksaw.

They usually clamp the pannel to something and that leaves scratch.

If you dont want any scratch the only way is dremel, or repaint.

I repainted my case after cutting sidepannel.

I did it myself, angle grinder with metal cutting blade attached to it :D

@Funky..can you cut through the side panel with an Angle grinder without any damage/scratches to the panel ??

How much does a decent angle grinder cost ????

Angle grinder is the one used for cutting marble tiles..right ????

Maybe I can borrow one from the workers next door who are constructing a building..:ohyeah: :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

The tool they are using to cut the marbels is mostly mounted metal cutter.
Angle grinder is similar but with slightly smaller blades and usually meant for ssurface grinding and small cutting.
If you are extra careful you wont damage cabinet much, it will leave small burn marks due to friction and will burn small area of paint around the cut, its usually covered easily if you use window lining rubber strips that you will get in car shop.

Wow...cool tools :jason: :jason:
@the_new_guy..how much did the jigsaw cost ??? Can I borrow it for a day....??? :ohyeah: :ohyeah: :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

@the_new_guy.............Have you tried cutting any side panel with the jigsaw ? Does it do a clean and smooth job ?

BTW..I am from Lajpat Ngr.:hap5: :hap5:
