Hello... We have Asianet Cable internet connection in out hostel.... We would like to watch TV as well in out laptop... So how can we do that....??? Thanks in advance....!

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

Well, you can use a cable splitter and attach one end to a TV tuner and you should be able to watch analog tv channels. Asianet by default doesn't filter out the Analog TV signals for broadband only customers, so it might work. ;) :P

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

Thanks Varkey...!

Ok, I didn't knew they could filter tv signals... ok...

So we have laptops, and hw much does the tv tuner card cost....? Can we do it ourselves?

do we have to inform asianet?

Thanks again....

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

since u want to view TV on a laptop, u would need to purchase a USB tv tuner card from a good computer hardware shop. You need not inform the cable guys about installation. Only if the clarity aint good enough then you may contact him.
Reegarding tv tuners you can go for the aver TV VolarGo from Aver Media(previously pixel view). The usb one costed me around 2.5k. Do check the rates at ur place.

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

Are the 1.2k ones the usb ones good enough for a 20inch widescreen monitor. I mean any issues with the clarity or cropping or stretching of the picture?

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

Check whether Analog feed available with the asianet broadband line now.

I was using splitter to view channels in asianet cable in trivandrum. And now, they stopped analog feed in my area. :(

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

^^^ yea they stopped it ...I am also from trivandrum.... for additional set-top box connection you have to give 500 1st and 100 monthly..I have one additional connection in my room

Re: TV thru cable on PC...

^ Did they completely stop Analog TV and you need to opt for Asianet Digital with the Set Top box?

Analog TV is still available in Cochin though.

You will get STB free but you have to pay for the cable tv subscription in bulk for 1 year minimum.

Regarding Analog feed, You have to check it first.

Am in thirumala, trivandrum and they stopped analog feed here,

But it is available in some other areas, Heard they are converting to digital depending on the fact that, all users in a particular area are converted to Digital :(
