Two connections on a single SIM?

I've got two Vodafone connections, one personal and one official for which I'm now carrying two mobile phones. I'm looking for a way to carry just a single phone. Is there any way that I can get both connections onto a single SIM? (I'm not interested in the dual-SIM models, too many compromises).

No way that is possible as sims have got their own id except the number...

I remember that on my ancient Nokia 5110, when I would press and hold down the * key, the number 2 would appear at the top of the display and I wouldn't be able to make any calls. Is that similar to having two seperate lines?

Well some operators abroad do offer this functionality of fusing 2 sims into 1. Not sure if this is possible with vodafone.
