:) :)

1. Is the corsair 520 watts available in Bangalore? What will be a psu(500 watts)

of comparable standard? Actually the 620 watts is around 8k and so a little

out of budget.

2. For a 320 GB hard disk can you give the current latest models for seagate,

hitachi and western digital. Will it make a huge difference if someone goes for

hitachi or WD instead of seagate. Anything else to look for in a hard disk.

Will all the latest models have identical speed and cache(for 320 GB) or there

are variable models.

:) :) Thanks for the replies
Raj

1. The Coolermaster 600W (Seventeam 500 OEM) is another great choice.

2. The Seagate 7200.10 / SV-35 (Almost similar, both perpendicular recording drives.) Both around 3.5k :)

Brands don't make much of a difference, I would stick to Seagate for better service!

hey anish, i got the coolermaster 600W yesterday, but its amp rating on dual 12v rails is so low, 18A for each rail, would it be able to handle a 7900GTX since on the nvidia website they recommend atleast 20A on each rail.

:) Thanks...but even WD gives home replacement I think so service should not be too much of a problem...

My dealer quotes a higher failure rate for seagate drives compared to hitachi...

Any basis to this ? I know he may lie:bleh:

I do not think the CM extreme power is any match for the corsair 520:)

@raj_pol:
01.Corsair 520Hx was available with Ankit, some time back
02.Get the Seagate 320 seems to be a test buy

Hitachi seems Ok too... will run cooler than the seagate

:) Hey how about WD drives..I saw reviews that they are good. Anyone in the forum using them?

I think they also have a door-to-door replacement policy

^ I have one Hitachi and 2 Seagate drives. No complaints with any but the Hitachi is *always* 1c cooler than the other two :P

@ banik - Don't fret, that's for a 7900GTX running at full load with a slight headroom for a bit of overclocking.

Are you running a 7900GTX anyways ? ;)

Hitachi drives are much more reliable than Seagate.

WD rock too. Ive had a 160GB PATA, and a 250GB Pata, running since 5 years now, no problems at all.

Also, Seagates and WD's service is great. Hitachis ASS is alright as well.

Just get whatever is cheaper. Lmao.

:) Thanks guys...I will get the WD or hitachi...

The series for hitachi is T7K500 right or anything better has come up?

I hope I find the HX520..Not many keep it:P

He is lying, since Seagate has been making desktop (ie 3.5") drives longer than Hitachi, so there is less knowledge about Hitachi out there for now.

Hitachi i think have been doing the 2.5" drives for long, but the 3.5 that i think is a recent operation with this perpendicular stuff.

My seagates have been running for years (8hrs/day) at 50 degrees without the slightest of problems, replaced every 3 yrs.

50C is a Bit too High Dude,Put a Fan u will Notice a 10-12 C Drop :D

Drive is specd to work upto 60 degrees.

I'm not sure where i can fit a fan on this old rig, the case is open for easier access for monthly backup syncs. I also checksum my stuff..no probs so far.
